when I get enough cash to replace my athlon 3000+ if anything goes wrong, I will OC mine to about 2.3GHZ, a 15% OC is enough for me... 2.3ghz athlon though thats about a 3.4GHZ P4, which is good enough for me

i bet he's using phase-change cooling ! it can keep ur PC down to -40C
    0_o !! crazy !!

eh btw i have XP-90C heatsink ! and i have amd athlon 3000+ u guyz know wut's the limit if i OC it? like how many GB can i reach?

azn, it depends, on what you're willing to risk. I would say you could safely OC it to 2.3ghz but any higher you run a sigificant risk. Personally I won't overclock it at all untill I can afford a replacement just in case.

I will say though, that what I proposed as a limit is just tentative. my friend said he could OC my Athlon XP 3000+ by 300mz without needing extra cooling but I never got around to it and the thing friend on it's own, hence I got the 64bit version. As a rule of thumb don't OC unless you can afford to replace it and also, your ram is often the biggest limiting factor for OCs, make sure you have the best ram possible with good timings.

    its been done before actually.

either thats the same article i read before, or its new w.e, ive read an article before and this isnt new. its damn near impossible to have a stable system at that clock speed, but with lots of money and sophisticated cooling i spose it is.

having a 7ghz proseser that is potentialy unstable isnt as good as having a dual prosser set up with too 3.6ghz processors. but still cool anwyas.

yeah ! i have OCZ Gold series 1 GB 2-2-2-5 ! this memory is based on BH-5 Chip (the OC legend from wut ive heard) :)

oo and snap !! that guy uses liquid nitrogen cooler

is it more expensive than phase change?? cuz phase change cooling is like 800-1000 bucks (just for cooling )
