Okay I have been hearing a lot about how great Avast is so I went to their site. I got one of the free serials and before I install that and unistall my other Anti-Virus I was wandering if it really is as great as you guys say. So can I get some feedback on Avast. Currently I use Trend Micro. Trend Micro).

Avast is Norton vamped with 1,000 volts. It kills 98% of viruses, where others are less. 2% are malicious ones, and spyware, that it cant delete, but it should be able to detect it.

It can do an At-Boot scan, which allows it to kill viruses that start on start up to be deleted before they start.

When it says a virus is found, you can delete it, quarantine it, or rename the file to a different extension so windows cannot use it.

On a scale from 1 to 10, I give it a 100000000000... seriously, its the bast free thing out there.

add Avast to it, you can just use it for at-boot scans. and let your other AV protect your computer..

i recently switched to avast from mcafee and i have been very happy with the results, plus it updates itself and lasts for a year, and u can always go to trend micro and run a scan, atleast thats what i do

yep, updates are fast and automatic, and updates are avaible at least 3 times a week.

And after your serial expires, you can get a new serial by signing up again!

that's not necisarilly Norton's fault... It's probably a virus that did that, that Norton couldn't detect..

Did you try to Low-level format it? That's where it writes '0's all across the disk, like what a brand new hdd has on it. If that didn't work, then your virus deleted the level 0 information, which tells the bios what it is, and it's good for a paperweight...
