I think that the mind has control of itself. Here is a good experiment. I didn't do it first as an experiment, rather jsut poor sleeping habits, but try it out. Stay awake for 2 days, and dont eat or drink anything for about 10 - 12 hours of the last 48 hours. now try to time it so that at the end of the 48 hours you're alone and it's dark outside. Now go watch a scary movie in the last 2 hours. Not some crap on, but something that really is scary to you and has to do with ghosts. Now go sit in your basement with the lights off. I guarantee you that if you are tired enough, you wil start to hear things. Your mind will begin to fabricate noises and such to the point where you freak yourself out. It doesn't work for everyone. For me, I am not really scared, I am used to this set of circumstances, and know better. But most people will start to freak out because their mind begins to play tricks on them. Its the same with reports of people seeing "mirages" in the desert when they are dehydrated and tired. Its the same with the LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL with NEAR DEATH experiences, thats been proven to be nothing more then your brains reaction to shutting down. As we all know, our brain controls our view of the world. If we alter it in anyway, it can act for us. It can craete things that aren't there. I knew too many hallucinagenic drug users in high school to not know that,.. COULD there be SPIRITS out there? Maybe. Are most of them delusions? Yes. I have seen about every movie and TV show that has to do with government conspiracy, aliens, ghosts, spirits, etc, etc, etc. I am interested in the topic so I research it wherever I can, and I can't seem to find anything compelling otehr then people's claims. Been to a REAL haunted house before? I have. They asked me if I left because I was scared. I said "No, I left because I am bored. I can here to debunk the claims here, and I have done so." Was inside for 2 hours, and they claimed "The spirits jsut aren't out at this time. Maybe I am jsut evil enough to scare them away :evilgrin: LoL
wow that as in depth Priestlq i like the stay up 2 days straight idea it does make sense, and btw about the topic i dont really believe in that stuff the mind does play trricks on you!
personally i dunno if im the only one here but i agree with what Priestlq is saying i personally have a overactive imagination.. the mind is really powerful and can trick you in to hearing things dunno if its happened to u but walking down a dark allyway during the day is pretty much nothing same wit walking through a cemetary during the day is ok but i bet if you did it at midnight youd be more scared and would hear things 10x louder than you would if it was midday i also beleive that you arent brought in to the world for 50 , 60 ,70 ,80 odd years and then you jus die and thats it but i guess we will never know till our time comes eh
I dunno... When I'm alone in the house for a few days then yeah I kinda worry a little. Like maybe a ghost popping up in the dark or an Alien attacking my ass from behind... But to be honest. I'm not sure whut I believe in...
Most of the stories are just the mind playing tricks. In places such as graveyards and such you expect there to be something there so you're mind exagurates things. But i belive there is alot more for us to discover.
Most stories of people seeing ghost are just BS. They either live near a power plant, are just plain crazy, or want to scare people (the point of the show). Personally i dont believe in ghost, they are just something that was made up long ago to scare people.
Time for my two cents lol. what i think is that yes the mind does play tricks on you. and yes all of the above is true about staying awake and hearing and seeing things. but what i have to say is this (dont think im crazy) and this was no expirament just happened to happen yesturday. now you can believe this or choose not to either way it happened. Without any sleep missing or scary movie watching or it being nightime. i have a door right behind me. as i type now its behind me. and yesturday i got up and was about to grab somthing from my dresser when the door started to open. so i looked at it and thought it was nothing. but then as i turned to my dressor it opened up more. now open halfway. so i turned to it and started to think i was seeing ----. so i go to close it (now without even moving towards the door just turning to walk to it, to close it) it shuts itself. Now you would normally think, O well theres a window on the other side maybe it was just the wind or somthing. Or o theres another door in the room maybe it was a reaction from the other door opening or closing from a family member. Well...thats not the case. my other door leading out of my room was completely shut and locked. and the window on the otherside of said door was also shut and locked. And the wierd thing is without the door being shut by me it shut infront of my face and was tight as if say i would have shut it angrily. but it never slammed. just shut and when i went to check it out it was a firm shut. not just a push shut like by the wind or somthing. Now im not saying i believe it was a "ghost" but i do believe that it was an unatural event. theres no way the door could have opened itself and closed itself infront of me the way it did. And An Even More Appealing Twist is that behind the door is my closent. my closent leads to the basement. with a very old lift top door. and this is an older house. but like i said. i dont think it was a ghost per-say. but it was wierd none the less. For me believing in ghosts....i dont really know...as of now though i think that death leads to the end of every beings...being. meaning i just think that once we die...we die...thats it...the state of mind itself is just a perception inwich the human being created themselves. we where made naturally. as was our thought patterns. as time progresses. we think we get more knowledge. because we reaserch natural things. As for going to heaven or hell i really doubt it. why? because i think that if there is a heaven how could it limit itself to those of human's and creatures that are only sutible to be there? i mean if humans go and animals go. what about creatures as tiny and unthought of like bacterium? my point being that every living/non living thing is a creature/thing that "god" put on this planet. As for my views of the son of god. i think "jesus" was a man that wanted to give hope to people in a hard time. so he said he was the son of "god"(who was also man made. another guy came up with the idea that an almighty created life.) and provided what others could not afford in those times. exp. Fish and Bread. as for him walking on water and turning water to wine...wine wasnt invented until the 1500's i believe. How did he get those thing's? "jesus" was a very well known and good carpentor. he had currency to spare. Now please dont take this the wrong way. im not downing any religion but thats just my view on that..and my very strange story...lol
