It's not pretty much gone buddy. First they have to block off the broken levys then they have to get power to the pumps to pump the water out. They will also have to repair any broken pumps. Once they do all this they can start getting the water out of the hole in the ground. Right now water is just pouring in the city. The town is pretty much gone though.

    Sing with me,

"New orleans, under the sea, under the sea!"

I dont have much sympathy. They knew this would happen for 200 years, yet they build right in the path of it. Their own damned fault for being that stupid.

It would suck if they couldnt get the water out and it had to evaporate on its own. Because if they couldnt get it out by winter and it froze over then when it melted there would be even more water :(

No, your ridiculous sympathy because people have been told and have known this was going to happen. And then when it does, we should bail their asses out?

Let them relocate, thats acceptable, people can learn from their mistakes.

But let them rebuild? So it can get destroyed all over again? ---- 'em.

Templar, you want them to stop -repping you? Show some damn respect. A large number of people lost their lives because of this and all you can do is sit there saying "Well they knew it could happen, so I don't care"? If I could I'd -rep you yet again for that, you could've left it at just saying they knew it was bound to happen and that would've been fine. When you say crap like that, you should be prepared to get things like a -rep.

    Back onto the subject...

My aunt's best friend lived down in New Orleans, they got evacuated into Memphis back on Monday. My family sent them a big package with some things they asked for like clothing, shampoo, etc. They got a letter or something saying they can return to NO in a few weeks to try recovering anything possible, but then they have to leave again immediately. Then it's a waiting game for at least a month or something.

I hate hearing about things like this, no matter where in the world it is.

Okay, then lets do this if your logic is so fail safe.

EVERYONE on EVERY coast in the WORLD would have to be moved in.

So japan should just get up and leave? If japan gets nailed by a typhoon, you say f-ck em? Where are they going to go?

So if florida, lousiana, georgia, missispi, the entire east coast is in the way of a hurricane, we just move in ward? Giant MASS crowds of people travelling west? Oh and all the damage that the hurricane has created we should forget about because 'they shoulda known they would have been hit durdurdur"

Your logic sucks. Your generalizing this ---- into something too simple to comprehend if its safe or not.

YOUR Logic is basing on the fact of "Well if someone throws a baseball at you and you just stand there and take it, you should have moved"

But it isnt that f-cking easy, you goddamn moron.

Though he has a strong use of bad language; i must agree with Mancer on this one.

Its like telling people to not live in California because of earthquakes, or Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas (Tornado Alley).

Well for those of you who think that its their own fault well your wrong.
I mean what about the kids who's parents are there? they dont have any choice but to be there.
And where did you expect over a million people to go? just evacuate the whole south?

and dont worry about the winter because it is the south and it doesnt get THAT cold there if there is any ice it wouldnt be very thick at all

This is supposed to take 4+ years to rebuild.

We dont even know how many casualties there are but the guess is in the thousands and they havent hardly even been able to get in there and find out

1 lady form the red cross said that what she saw today was equal to what she saw after the tsunami hit.

If I had any money I would donate to the red cross because this is supposed to be the worst hurricane that has been recorded in the US ever

Okay. LISTEN, LET ME TALK FOR A MINUTE.

St. Orleans is ----ed. Dont let them rebuild. Itso nly going to get destroyed again.

The only wise thing to do is to NOT ----ING BUILD ----ING HOUSES THAT CRUMBE SO GOD DAMNED EASILY.

Thats why alotta people die, they live right in Hurricane ally yet they buy some cheapass tin house and it gets wiped out. You knew it would happen, yet you buy the house so it can get wiped out.

I sort of care. A little bit. Its sad.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET KILLED FROM A TYPHOON/HURRICANE, build a better house/building thats not going to get wiped out, you idiot.

If you just HAVE to live in a cheap ass tincan house, live someplace where its not going to get wiped away by a huriicanae/typhoon, whatever.

And quit calling me a ----ing moron, the flaming aint appreciated.

Its called adapting to your situation and enviroment. Hurricanes and ---- can easily wipe out a tiny tin house. Dont live/build/buy one. Simple as that.

When you're told to evac, evac, ASAP. If you choose to tought it out or whatever, and do something stupid, whoopdey doo.

We give people fair warning, we give them options so this ---- doesnt happen, and if they wont take them, too bad. The world is not all happy-trees and ----. Its a hard knock life, then you die.

Look, America is one of the most frowned upon countries in the world. We're 6% of the global pop. yet we use 51% of the world resources. Thats ----ing ridiculous.

For what? To be destoryed all over again? Like Florida? No, build a better house or leave.
