Try using Micrsoft's Milicous Software Removal Tool, update your Virus Scanner and run that.

or get Avast at avast.com , that'll kill it.. i suggest doing a at boot scan when it asks you after you install it. that will wipe it out before it can start.

(That has to be the hundreth time i said the above.. :s)

i use nod32 for an on acess scanner and always have avast off but use it for boot scans. It catches like everything. its sort of a resource hog though. And the boot scan takes me like an hour and a half

    Microsoft's Malicious thing here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

also, try getting Nod32, trial version. see if that helps.

Do you know where the virus is? maybe it skipped over it.. try searching only that folder for viruses..

edit: you did try the at-boot scan, correct? normally that gets rid of them... does it detect it at all?

i'm pretty sure i know the virus you mean.

run avast on boot, get rid of it from everywhere, then you need to:

disable system restore, this clears the system restore registry

(the virus infects system restore registry and virus scanners cannot delete things from here)

then restart computer and reenable system restore

note: any previous system restore points will be deleted.

If it is what Pie said, that won't help. Nice try, tho.
