    Introduction [HL.02.01]
    ==============================================================================

Half-Life 2 is the game I waited for ever since I played the original
Half-Life. Half-Life 2 (or HL2) features the best graphics seen on PC, great
music, terrific story etc. If you ask me, it's the best shooter made so far.

This guide is made thanks to IGN. We arranged a little deal, and this guide is
IGN-only! So don't mail me about permission to add this guide to your site,
the answer is no. This only counts for this guide, but please keep it in mind.

    From the official site:

"1998. HALF-LIFE sends a shock through the game industry with its combination
of pounding action and continuous, immersive storytelling. Valve's debut title
wins more than 50 game-of-the-year awards on its way to being named "Best PC
Game Ever" by PC Gamer, and launches a franchise with more than eight million
    retail units sold worldwide.

NOW. By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original,
and adding startling new realism and responsiveness, Half-Life 2 opens the
door to a world where the player's presence affects everything around him,
from the physical environment to the behaviors even the emotions of both
    friends and enemies

The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman,
who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its
resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the
unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at
Black Mesa. And a lot of people he cares about are counting on him.

The intense, real-time gameplay of Half-Life 2 is made possible only by
Source®, Valve's new proprietary engine technology. Source provides major
    enhancements in:

Characters - Advanced facial animation system delivers the most sophisticated
in-game characters ever seen. With 40 distinct facial "muscles," human
characters convey the full array of human emotion, and respond to the player
    with fluidity and intelligence.
Physics - From pebbles to water to 2-ton trucks respond as expected, as they
obey the laws of mass, friction, gravity, and buoyancy.
Graphics - Source's shader-based renderer, like the one used at Pixar to
create movies such as Toy Story® and Monster's, Inc.®, creates the most
beautiful and realistic environments ever seen in a video game.
AI - Neither friends nor enemies charge blindly into the fray. They can assess
threats, navigate tricky terrain, and fashion weapons from whatever is at
    hand."

    Weapons [HL.03.01]
    ==============================================================================

A little note, the ammo will be wrote down as "Ammo in chamber/Max. ammo".

    Crowbar
    Ammo: N/A
    Hotkey: 1
Description: This is the famous Half-Life weapon, although you won't use it
all that much. You'll mainly using it to break stuff, and to keep Man Hacks
    away from you.

    Gravity Gun
    Ammo: N/A
    Hotkey: 1
Description: The most fun gun in the game. You can play with gravity, by
grabbing objects, and putting them down, or just throwing them away. The
primary attack button will shoot things away, the secondary attack button
will grab things. At the end of the game, you'll get a much stronger version
of the Gravity Gun, which'll be able to kill enemies and carry even heavier
stuff. Sadly, you won't have it for long.

    Pistol
    Ammo: 18/150
    Hotkey: 2
Description: You'll be using this gun the most until you get the SMG. It's
    a pretty nice weapon anyway.

    Magnum
    Ammo: 6/12
    Hotkey: 2
Description: This weapon will blow your enemies away, literally. Most enemies
will also die from one good shot with the Magnum.

    Sub Machine Gun (SMG)
    Ammo: 45/225 + 3 Grenades
    Hotkey: 3
Description: I won't make the Sarah Michelle Gellar joke again, see my Doom 3
guide for that. Instead, let me just tell you this is a pretty good gun,
which you'll get early in the game, and you'll love it for a while. It shoots
pretty fast, so enemies will die faster too. The primary attack button fires
the SMG, and the secondary attack button fires a grenade.

    Pulse Rifle
    Ammo: 30/60 + 3 Cores
    Hotkey: 3
Description: This is a quite a good gun, but it can't hold much ammo. The
primary attack button will fire, the secondary will fire a core. The core
will take out large groups of enemies, but it's also possible to kill
    yourself or allies with it.

    Shotgun
    Ammo: 6/30
    Hotkey: 4
Description: My favourite weapon from Doom 3 for it's power. This isn't Doom
3 though, it's Half-Life 2. Still, this weapon is great for taking out
enemies quickly. The primary attack button fires one shot, and the secondary
    attack button fires two shots.

    Crossbow
    Ammo: 1/10
    Hotkey: 4
Description: The only weapon that has a zoom-function. Use it, because this
weapon is great for taking out enemies from a distance. The primary attack
button will fire, and the secondary attack button will zoom in.

    Grenades
    Ammo: 5
    Hotkey: 5
Description: Well, what to say? Don't wait too long, or you'll blow your hand
of, and be sure to actually throw the grenade, not just the pin. This is a
nice weapon if you need to take care of large groups of enemies, or when you
find a Combine behind a turret. The primary attack button will throw a
Grenade, the secondary attack button will roll on.

    RPG
    Ammo: 1/3
    Hotkey: 5
Description: A Rocket Launcher. It's the only weapon that can take the
Gunships down. Also good for taking out big groups of enemies.

    Pheropod
    Ammo: N/A
    Hotkey: 6
Description: This "weapon" will summon Antlions, and let them attack for you.
You'll get it after the Antlion Warrior battle. The primary attack button
will throw the thing away, and the Antlion will go there, and kill anything
they can find. The secondary attack button will call them back to you.

    Enemies & Bosses [HL.04.01]
    ==============================================================================

Drones - Flying enemies, that come in various forms. Most of the time, the
Gravity Gun works fine against them.

Scanners - In the beginning of the game they might be harmless, after a short
time they'll become annoying machines that'll blind you and find you, so the
    Combines can easily spot you.
Man Hacks - These are updated version of the Scanners. Not only do they fly,
but they also have a small blade spinning around, which isn't nice at all.
Just keep slashing it with your Crowbar to take it down. The Gravity Gun
    also works fine against them.
Drones - Flying things, that'll drop Hoppers down.
Flashers - They are annoying little things. They'll move towards you, and try
to blind you. If you just look away from them, you're fine though.

Civil Protection - The enemy you'll battle most. They are some sort of super
human (Über-menschen (the army Hitler wanted to create back in WW2), perhaps?
Who knows.), and are available in various tasted and smells.

Combines - These are the guards of City 17, and are the main enemy throughout
the game. They are dressed in black, and appear to be human, but who knows.
Sometimes they are only equipped with a stun-stick, others are equipped with
heavy weapons. There are various of these Combines, ranging from the city
version, to the prison version. Not enough difference to discuss, though.
Combine Snipers - You'll notice them by the blue laser. Take them out by
tossing a grenade in their hideout.
Super Combines - White Combines, that are stronger than any other Combine you
encounter in the game. They are the only Combine that'll use the secondary
    attack of the Pulse Rifle.

Headcrabs - The annoying enemies from the original Half-Life. Most will die
from one hit with a Crowbar, though.

Headcrab - Annoying little creatures. They are small, and will jump at you as
    soon as they see you.
Black Headcrab - These Headcrabs are poisoned, and when they hit you, you'll
get poisoned too. When you got hit, just stand still until the suit healed
    you.
Super Headcrab - They move faster, and can jump further. You can identify
    them by their long legs.

Civil Protection Equipment - The vehicles and other unfriendly things the
    Combines will use against you.

Missile Tanks - These tanks will shoot missiles at you. Just keep moving and
you'll be fine. Fire at the missiles, so they'll miss you, when you really
    need to.
Helicopter - These guys are a pest, and they know it. They'll shoot at you
with a gun, but some will also drop mines. Take them down as soon as you're
    able to.
Gunships - These are even more annoying than the Helicopters. They'll fly
around and shoot at you. Only the RPG can take them down.
Strider - Big creatures, that have long legs. You probably know them from
various Half-Life 2 screenshots or movies. They require 6 rockets, before
they'll go down. This means you'll need to find one of those boxes with
    unlimited rockets in them.
Sentry Guns - Turrets you can just pick up, place somewhere, and they'll
shoot the enemy. You can easily take them down with Gravity Gun, or by
    throwing something towards them.
Pop-up Turrets - Once you touched the blue lasers, they'll pop up and start
shooting at you. And they do quite some damage... The only way to destroy
them is by rolling a Grenade inside their little hideout.

Zombies - Huuuuuuuuuuuuuh... that's the sound they make. Some are slow, others
are fast. Shoot them in the head, if you can.

Zombies - These poor guys got attacked by a Headcrab, and turned into
Zombies. They'll throw things at you, so be sure to watch out. When the
Zombie died, the Headcrab might still live, so watch out.
Leapers - These aren't your average Zombies, they are way faster, and are
able to climb. Take them out with your Shotgun.
Piggy Tail Zombies - Even stronger Zombies. These guys have a load of Black
Headcrabs on them, and won't hesitate to throw them at you. Take it down
    quickly.

Mines - What needs to be said? Step on them, and get yourself killed.

Roller Mines - Strange enemies, and easy too. Pick them up with your Gravity
Gun, and shoot them as far away as possible.
Laser Mines - See the red beams? Don't touch them, because a mine will
    explode if you do.
Hopper - An advanced type of mine. They'll only attack enemies. However, if
you pick them up with your Gravity Gun, and place them back on the ground,
    they'll work for you.

Antlions - A mix between an ant, and lion, as the name suggests. They just
keep coming, and coming, and coming.

Antlions - Like the name makes you suspect, this is a mix between a lion, and
an ant. They'll fly, and attack you. They'll keep coming, so move away from
    them.
Antlion Warrior - This is the advanced version of the Antlion. They'll summon
Antlions and rush at you, trying to hit you.

Barnacles - You should know these enemies from the first Half-Life. They just
hang at the ceiling, with their tongue out of their mouth. As soon as they
feel something touched their tongue, they'll slowly move the object towards
their mouth and try to eat it.

    ==============================================================================
    Allies [HL.05.01]
    ==============================================================================

Barney Calhoun - The security guard from the original Half-Life. Although you
saw many of his clones, in this game, there is only one Barney, and he seems
to remember you ("Hey Gordon, it's me, Barney, from Black Mesa"). Barney
dressed up as Civil Protection (a Combine), but he's your friend, really.
Dr. Isaac Kleiner - Another old friend from the original Half-Life. This time,
there aren't clones, but just one Dr. Kleiner. He has a pet, Lamarr, and he
seems to care more for her, than for his own life.
Lamarr - The pet of Dr. Kleiner. It's a Headcrab, but harmless. It's not less
    violent though.
Alyx Vance - The daughter of Eli Vance (more about him in a few seconds). She
helps you in the game at various points, and see seems to be a better shooter
than most other allies (perhaps Grigori is even better at shooting). Also,
many gamers have a crush on her. Losers.
Dr. Eli Vance - The father of Alyx Vance, as stated above. He has a strange
leg, but he's friendly, so don't worry. He and Dr. Kleiner invented the
teleporter you'll be using a few times.
Dog - The pet of Alyx Vance. It's not a real dog, but a robot. It's extremely
strong, and eventually it'll even fight for you.
Dr. Judith Mossman - For the first part of the game, she's friendly. However,
    this'll change soon enough.
Father Grigori - You'll meet him in Ravenholm. He's a bit crazy, but he won't
hurt you. He'll even help you by shooting at Zombies, and giving you a
    Shotgun.
Rebels - They contain the most stupid A.I. of the game, but it's still better
than nothing, right? You can take up to 4 with you, and they'll aid you by
shooting enemies, and giving you health (the medics will do this, obviously).
Vortigaunts - They were enemies in the original Half-Life, but that's because
they were slaves of Nihilanth. Since you saved them, by defeating Nihilanth,
they are friendly now, and will even help you by powering you up, or powering
    vehicles up.

    ==============================================================================
    Walkthrough [HL.06.01]
    ==============================================================================

Some hints and tips to get you started:
    * Remember to check out the controls. Some features won't be discussed
anywhere, so you might miss the zoom-function of the suit, for example
(that's the Z-button, by the way).
    * Run, walk or crawl while shooting, that way you're harder to hit.
    * Save often, but not when you're low on health.
    * Even if I don't tell you to do things, you can still try them out. There's
nothing wrong with trying to talk to someone, unless I tell you not to do
    so.
    * Reload your gun when you're not in battle to be sure you won't start the
next battle with just one bullet before you have to reload.
    * Aim for exploding barrels, because they'll blow things up, including
enemies that are near. Don't take cover behind one of these barrels
yourself, obviously. When Combines roll them towards you, shoot them before
    the barrels arrive.
    * If you need health, it's fine to go back a few rooms to get it. You get the
idea? You can also do this for ammo, suit energy or whatever you want to
    get.
    * Most weapons (only the Crossbow) don't have a zoom-function. However, there
is a way around it. Zoom with your suit (Z-button), aim, go back to the
original view, and shoot. It's not a way to quickly snipe Combines down,
    but it works.
In the walkthrough, I'll add *Loading* quite a few times. This means the game
will load a new area and you'll have to wait a few moments. Not only for that
reason I decided to add it, but it'll also make searching more easier. I've
seen Half-Life 2 guides, but they aren't really organised, so it can be hard
to find the spot you need.
Sometimes, in levels with a lot of walking, I won't describe every corner for
you. If you see an enemy, just shoot it. Don't let it attack you, just because
I didn't tell you to defend yourself. If I tell you to get from A to B, I
assume you're able to go there without too much trouble.

And the biggest note; THIS GUIDE CONTAINS SPOILERS! Don't use it if you don't
want the game to be spoiled for you.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Chapter 1: Point Insertion [HL.06.02]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Rise and shine. Not that I wish to imply you
have been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest. And all
the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well, let's just
say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all
the difference in the world. So, wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and smell the
    ashes."

These are the first words you'll hear when you start a new game. A little
speech by G-man, but I'm sure you don't understand it, at all. Don't worry,
you'll figure it out sooner or later. Perhaps not, who knows.

You'll start in a train, and the man near the doors didn't see you get in.
Wait for the train to arrive, then leave it. You'll enter City 17, and things
don't look happy, do they? The things floating around are Scanners, and as you
may have guessed, they'll scan you, and others.

Walk the path the others take too, and you'll see a Combine, which are the
local guards. The Combine will tell the guy with the luggage to go away, and
when the refuses, he'll start to beat the guy up. If you look on the other
side, you'll see a Vortigaunt. They used to be slaves that attacked you in
the first Half-Life, but they are friendly now. If you look up, you'll see
and hear Dr. Breen giving a speech about City 17. It's propaganda, so don't
    listen.

Follow the path, until you end up in a small encaged area. The doors will
close, and a Combine will tell you to follow him. He'll leave you in a room
with another Combine, but as soon as the other Combine is gone, he'll take of
his mask, and you'll see it's Barney. He works undercover for the Civil
Protection. After some chit-chat, you'll have to leave. He'll give you some
directions and close the door behind him.

Climb the ladder, and put a box in front of the windows that's open (use the
E-button). Jump down and open the door.

    *Loading*

Enter the next door here, and find the Combine. He'll throw a can on the
floor, and tell you to pick it up. When you did that, he'll tell you to throw
it in the trash can. You can do it, and get through, or don't listen, throw it
towards him, and get beat up (and still get through). Take your pick. Dr. Breen
is giving another boring speech, but this one is a few minutes long. Follow
the path and open the big door to open at the plaza.

Birds are flying around, you'll see a big building in front of you, and all
around you are Scanners and Combines. Can you taste the air that's filled with
danger and fear? You can really only go one way, and that's right, into the
alley. Climb the ladder here, and drop down at the other side of the gate.
Follow the path again, and enter the open door.

    *Loading*

Open the door and follow the stairs, and you'll see how Combines kick in a
door and attack the person that lives there. Enter the various houses, and
talk to everyone. Everyone is afraid, angry or sad. Combines will enter the
house, and as soon as you left the hallway, they'll start taking over the
    rooms you just visited.

Go up the stairs, and enter the door. Suddenly, Combines will rush in and
start to beat everyone up. You'll be told to go to the roof, so just follow
    the path, up the stairs.

    *Loading*

You'll end up at the roof, and Combines will chase you, so keep running.
There is only one path to go, so I suggest taking that one. Helicopters will
fly around, Combines will shoot at you, and total Ochoa rules the streets of
City 17. Good job, Mr. Freeman. Enter the window that's open, and go down
    the stairs.

Combines will come in and beat you. You'll faint, but Alyx Vance will save
the day. She'll help you up, and help you to find Dr. Klein's lab. Go down the
    elevator, and just follow her.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Chapter 2: "A Red Letter Day" [HL.06.03]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alyx will say it's funny you show up on that day. When people wanted to get to
her father's lab (Eli), they used to go through the sewers. They invented a
teleporter though, which allows them to go there much easier. The sewers are
dangerous. As dangerous as me, when I'm hungry and drunk. You get the point,
    right?

Follow Alyx, until you end up in the lab of Dr. Klein. He lost his pet,
Lamarr, and doesn't seem to be interested in you. After he figures out his pet
is lost, he'll suddenly see you, and be relieved. You'll hear various things,
including cats (it's true), the teleportation technique and the suit. Barney
will come in, and open the chamber with the suit for you. Suddenly, a Headcrab
will jump out. Don't worry, it's Lamarr, the pet of Dr. Klein. He won't hurt
you, but that doesn't mean he's less aggressive. And he's not a good listener,
because he goes away through the ventilation shaft. Get into the suit, and
you'll be able to go to the teleporter, so you can go to Eli's lab. Before you
enter the next room, be sure to check out the mini-teleporter on the table
near the entrance. Also charge your suit a bit by using the device on the
wall. Enter the next room when you're done though.

From here, you should be teleported to Eli's Lab, but first Alyx will go.
She'll stand on the platform, but as soon as everything gets launched, the
plug will jump. Put it back in, then hit the switch to send Alyx away. She'll
arrive without any problems, and it's your turn. You'll get teleported, but
at the moment of teleportation, Lamarr will attack. If this ruins it all, or
it was wrong from the beginning, we'll never now. You'll end up at various
places, including the dessert, Dr. Breen's office, and Eli's lab, but
eventually you'll end up outside the lab of Dr. Klein. Go down and follow the
    path.

Barney will show up, and throw the Crowbar down. The most favourite Half-Life
weapon. You'll have to go to Eli's lab through the sewers, and yes, it's still
as dangerous as me when I'm hungry and drunk, unfortunately. Break through the
    wood, and follow the path.

You'll see a Scanner, and this time it's not just an annoying flying thing
anymore, but it's your enemy. That's right, hit it, and hit it hard. Hit it
until it falls down and explodes. Go down yourself, and head left. Note you
can get hit now, so run, don't just walk. Enter the train, and smack
everything to pieces. Leave the train on the other side, but don't get run
over by the next train that is just passing through. When that train is away,
you'll be able to enter the next train. From here, climb the ladder and jump
over the trains, to the left. Follow the path to end this chapter.

    Chapter 3: Route Kanal [HL.06.04]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great, people are mad at you, my room is a mess it's cold outside. Don't
worry, the last two are my own problems. You'll still have to deal with angry
Combines though. Anyway, follow the path, and heal up if needed. Go around the
corner and save the couple from the evil Combines. You'll get a Pistol for
doing this (from a dead Combine, that is). Break open the entrance, and go up
the stairs. Kill the Combine, and keep going, until you are outside.

Kill the Combine here too, and find a way down. Wait for the train to stop,
and you can get yourself to the other side. Watch out, because Combines will
appear from the entrance you just took. If you shoot the barrel though, that
should give you enough time to turn around and break away the planks, so you
can enter the house. Well, what's left of that anyway. As long as you stay
away from the door and windows, you should be safe for now. Find the barrels
and shoot them. This will open a new entrance. Go there, and look at the big
tower. All those Scanners are coming for you. Isn't that nice? =)

Shoot the Combine on a higher platform (barrels are close, get the hint?),
and open the supply chest. Open the door and follow the path. Just ignore the
Combines, and jump over the fence, and follow the path. Crawl into the shaft.
At the other end of the shaft, you'll be able to kill the Combines one by
one, which is a bit easier than having to kill them all at the same time. When
you are down, come out of the shaft and jump down.

Follow the trail, and when you see a Combine, kill him, and take the way he
came from. Just run, and kill any Combines that's in your path. More Combines
will chase you, that's why. You'll have to break a barricade in order to get
through, and after a short walk, you'll have to jump down. If you are in need
for health and other goodies, you can take them by entering the small area.
However, keep in mind Combines are chasing you. When you are sick of the
Combines, follow the trail, and go right when you can. This will active a
train to pass by and kill all the Combines. Harharhar... Jump down, swim a
bit, then climb up the ladder and enter the container. The man will talk a bit
and the Vortigaunt will give you some Suit Energy. Leave the container and
    break away the wood.

    *Loading*

Break away even more wood, and follow the path. If you see a crow, look at it.
A Barnacle will eat it. Yummy... If you follow the path, you'll hear some
people screaming. No, they didn't scream because the way you look, some
Combines are shooting at them. Rescue them, like Gordon Freeman would do! Take
down the Combines that aren't too far away, and enter the tunnel. You'll have
to kill more Combines here, but you'll end up in an abandoned station.

Station 8 will call, but they'll realise this station is shut down. They'll
tell station 12 is down too, and so are they, at the end of the message. Climb
up the ladder, and shoot the barrel to get rid of the Combines. Mount the
turret, and shoot at everything that looks nice to shoot at. Be sure to shoot
the barrel at the right side. Once you shot everything down, missiles will be
shot at you, and at that point, it's a good time to leave, and take the right
path. Follow it, and jump down.

Eventually you'll find a woman, who'll tell you to go on. Sure, as she wishes.
When you enter the tunnel, and shoot the Combines above you, they'll move to
the next room. You should do so too. Yes, just jump in the water. Water is
good for you. It'll help you remove funny smells and whatnot. However, the
Combines don't want you to take a bath, and will throw barrels down, including
a burning one. Dive, and wait until all the barrels exploded. A new entrance
will be open, so go there and follow it.

As you walk further, Combines will attack from here and there. Shoot them
down, until you see a bridge. When a few Combines decide to gather there, it's
a good time to shoot at the barrels that are beneath the bridge. Goodbye
Combines. Go there, but watch out for the 2 remaining Combines. You'll see a
hill, and if you go there, and push the barrels away, you'll be able to
enter. Go down, and head left. Here, you'll have to destroy the Barnacles in
order to get past. Grab a barrel that can explode, and throw it down. When a
Barnacle grabs it, set it on fire, and it'll explode, which'll kill quite a
few other Barnacles. You have 2 of these barrels, so go wild. When they are
killed, head down, and follow the path. Be sure to grab all the goodies.

Jump in the water, and find a floating piece of wood. From here, kill the
Combines, and climb the ladder. Jump in the water again, and swim to the other
side. When Combines appear, shoot one of the barrels. This should kill all the
Combines, and you can just follow the path (watch out for a few barrels
though). You'll end up in a new room.

This is your first puzzle, isn't it? Congratulations. If you feel like talking
about it, be sure to mail me. I'll love to mail back about these kind of
subjects. Anyway, you'll have to put blocks on one part of the wood, so the
other part lifts up. Not hard eh? This'll allow you to go up the platform, and
find yourself in an outdoor area, with a Helicopter.

This part sucks. Well it's fun, but a bit hard if you don't know what to do.
The helicopter will fire, and recharge. During the recharge, you'll have to
run, and during the firing, you'll have to take cover. From where you are,
you'll have to go left, follow the path and open the door that's blocked by a
few barrels. You should cover about 3 times. You'll end up in a scary
    building.

Just follow the path. You can find some goodies by following the water, but
when you are done playing around, you can get serious. Once again, you'll find
ramps, and Barnacles. Yes, also barrels that are able to explode. Get the
idea? Good, because you'll need to do this 2 times. Each time, go down, and
head to the other side. You'll head up outside. When you are, run and go
    around the corner.

    *Loading*

Follow the path (and cut away things if needed), until you find a man. He will
open the door for you, and tell you the "guy they are looking for is a poor
bastard". Does he even know who he's talking to? Adults these days... Anyway,
when he wants to open the door, he'll find out Man Hacks are attacking him.
Equip your Crowbar, and nail them down. When they are gone, follow the path.

You'll find more Man Hacks, and a few barricades. At the barricade with a few
barrels. just make sure one barrel explode, so the Man Hacks won't even be
able to bother you. You'll eventually be able to choose between 2 paths. Take
the last one for supplies, then go back and take the other one.

Kill the enemies here (Combines and Man Hacks), and enter the next room. Go
down, and you'll see a Combine come down. Shoot him, plus the other 2 at the
end of the hall for a SMG. Nice eh? You can skip this paragraph, and just head
to the end of the hall if you don't need supplies. Otherwise, read on. Go back
to the beginning of the room, and enter the shaft that's near the entrance.
A Man Hack will attack, so watch out. You'll end up in a room with a few
goodies. Go back to where the Combine came down, and find a hole you can
enter. At the end if a Zombie, but also goodies, including Grenades. Now head
to the end of the hall.

Dive in the water, and find the entrance. Follow it all the way, until you can
go up. Jump to the other side and kill the enemies. WAlk over the pipe, and
kill the Barnacles. Grab the goodies if you want, and continue to walk over
the pipe. Be sure to get rid of the Man Hack. Break the fence you see, and
follow the pipe for a few goodies. Go back after that, and find a place where
    you can dive down.

Swim to the other side, and go up. Kill the Combines in the distance, and be
sure the barrels explode before they even come close to you. Follow the path
now, and run to the other side. Kill the Combines, and enter the hall. You'll
see a lot of Man Hacks, but a Grenade will take care of them. Open the door
at the end of the hall, where the Man Hacks used to be, and follow the path.
Grab the goodies, then enter the shaft and drop down.

This is an area full of Man Hacks. Really annoying. I just prefer to sit down
in a corner with my Crowbar, but you can also make sure all the barrels
explode. Whatever suits you, as long as the Man Hacks are gone. Climb up the
ladder, and walk over the pipes, so you end up at the platform that's higher
than the one you landed. Enter the next room, and go down using the pipes.
This will make sure you'll find a wheel, which you can give a good spin, so
the water raises. When you did that, go back to the previous room, and kill
the new Man Hacks. Drop down in the water, and swim to the other room. Get a
good breath, then go down again and break away the planks, so the stuff will
start to float. With this, you are able to go to the other side of the room,
    and follow the path.

    *Loading*

Climb up the ladder, and walk over the plank, so you end up at the other side.
Jump down, and kill the Man Hacks and Combines. Go to where the Combines used
to be, and go up. Follow the path, and kill more Man Hacks. Here, follow to
find goodies, and climb up when you're done. Go to the other side, and drop
down. You'll end up in a new room.

If you want goodies, climb the pipe and follow it. Watch out for the "yellow
water", because it's toxic. Find the man though, and he'll be shooting
Headcrabs. Hooray! Grab the goodies (be sure to open the chest for ammo), and
continue your journey. This part doesn't need a description, but just find
your way around, and kill any Headcrab and Zombie you find. You'll end up in
a hangar with a boat. Enter the boat, and follow the toxic river.

When you can't go any further, exit near the gate, and go up. Spin the wheel
to open the gate. You can also find a Headcrab here, by the way, by breaking
the boxes (including a Supply Box). When you are done playing around, enter
the boat and continue down the river. Be prepared for a boring chapter.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Chapter 4: Water Hazard [HL.06.05]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow the river until you find a building. Leave your boat, and follow the
stairs. Inside are 2 Zombies, so take care of them. This is station 12, but as
you can see, not much is left of it. Climb the stairs, and follow the planks
to find a ladder. Beware of the Headcrab that jumps down. Climb the ladder,
and smash the barrel away, so the crate falls down. Go down, and grab the
goodies. Enter the boat again, and continue your journey.

Stop when you find a bridge. A man will drop supplies down, so grab them.
Leave the boat, and walk to the land ahead of you. Enter the tunnel, and
follow it. You'll find blue barrels, which you'll need. Throw them in the
water, then jump in the water yourself. When you place a few blue barrels
in the crate, under the structure, the thing will move, and it'll suddenly
become a ramp. Great for you, because you can use it to continue your toxic
    journey.

A dropship will drop some Combines, so kill them. Driving over them is a very
easy solution if you want to save ammo. Leave the boat where the Combines used
to be, and use a barrel to enter the tunnel that's open. If you follow it all
the way, you'll find a Zombie, and supplies. Go back to the boat, and
continue down the river. Keep on the left side when you find a ramp, to grab
    goodies.

    *Loading*

Just keep going, until you find a gate. Go back a bit, and find a place where
you can walk (it's made of stone). Go up, kill the Combine, and enter the
building. Listen to the new speech of Dr. Breen about you. When you are done,
enter the next few rooms, and be sure to kill everyone, and grab all the stuff
you need. If you keep opening doors, you'll end up outside again. Toss a
grenade to the Combine behind the turret, or just shoot him. Enter the next
building, and kill everyone here. If you go left, and enter the door, you'll
be outside, on the other side of the gate. The wheel doesn't work, so that's
not the way to open the gate. The barrels are, because they'll trigger
something to fall towards the gate when they explode. When you did that, go
back to the boat, and watch out for the new legion of Combines that entered
the buildings. Follow the river again.

    *Loading*

Eventually you'll end up in an area with a few buildings. Head right here,
and find a door with a lock. Shoot the lock away, and enter the door. Inside,
you're able to find a Magnum, and when you found it, 3 Combines will rush in.
Try the new weapon, I mean, why not? Enter the door, and it's time for another
helicopter chasing session. The goal is to enter the next building, and I
can't tell you much more. Take cover when needed, and be sure to kill the
Combines too, if you encounter them. Enter the new building once you found it,
and don't worry, you can't get anywhere else, so you'll find it.

Inside are a few Man Hacks and Combines, so shoot them off. Go up the stairs,
and jump over the containers to reach the other side of the room. In the next
room, blow up the barricade, and keep going, until you are outside. The
chopper is still there, so run to safety. Find a ladder, and climb it to get
yourself in a small tower. Kill the Combines, and use the turrets to destroy
the helicopter. Use the panel to open the gate. Take your boat, and continue
using love. A new helicopter will appear, but this one will also drop mines.
Enter the tunnel when you find it.

    *Loading*

When you are outside of the tunnel, head left, and just keep going. Ignore
all the shooting etc., but focus on driving. When you see pipes, enter them,
even although they don't offer much cover. The reason is, they'll lead to a
new area, without any enemies, and if you keep going, you'll end up in a
tunnel. Keep going from there. Note you might be stuck at the point where you
have to navigate over a few pipes, instead of underneath them. Give it a few
    tries, it's possible.

    *Loading*

Just keep going and going, you can't get lost. If you keep on the right side,
you'll find a ramp. If you use it, you'll end up near a building. Enter it
(also take the boat with you), and grab all the goodies. Spin the wheel to
lower a platform, and use the boat to get down, and continue. Enter a tunnel
    when you find it.

    *Loading*

When you find a split, leave the boat. Walk straight ahead, and you'll find
a Zombie, and some supplies. A bit back, you can find a ladder on the wall.
If you climb it, and jump and walk a bit, you'll end up near some heavy
object. Push it down. It'll land in some kind of basket. Drop down yourself,
and pull the level. This will lower the basket, and because it's to heavy,
you'll create a ramp with some device. Ride to the other side, and you'll find
    a station.

Leave, and after some talking and walking, the Vortigaunt will create a gun
for your boat. Grab the supplies you can find, and leave the station. Thank
them though, you don't want to be rude. You'll find helicopters and whatnot,
but thanks to the gun, they'll be easy to take out. Go, until you find a
    tunnel. Enter it.

    *Loading*

If you keep going, you'll find a 2-split. Take the right path first, and go
to the end of the path (also kill the Combine, silly). A Zombie will be here,
but also a few Headcrabs. Take them all out, and climb into the small hut
for supplies. Go back, and take the other path. Continue, until you are in an
area with quite some Combines, and barrels that'll be thrown your way. Kill
the combines, and go straight forward, take an u-turn, and continue down the
    path.

You'll end up in an area with ships, and trucks that'll fire missiles
towards you. Enter the containers you see for goodies. Go to the ship that's
in a corner, and leave the boat. Hide under the platform, and find a
container. Inside are barrels, which you have to let explode. This will open
the door of the container, and you can take the boat, and follow the path that
way. You'll end up at a ramp, and this allows you to enter a tunnel Follow it.

    *Loading*

You'll end up in a big area, and it's time to battle the first boss. It's a
helicopter, but a bit more advanced. He'll start with just shooting at you,
so shoot back. After a few rounds, he'll drop mines, and the more he's
damaged, the more mines he'll drop. After that, he'll shoot non-stop at you,
which means he's almost destroyed. Once you destroyed the helicopter, go to
    the gate, and open it.

Enter the next part, and use the ramp to get up the hill. Find the building,
and kill the Combines outside. Inside are 2 more Combines, but also allot of
goodies, ranging from ammo to health. Grab all you need, and go outside. There
should be one side of the building you didn't visit yet, so go there. See
the dam? Walk there, and follow the path. You'll end up at a panel. If you
hit the switch, the dam will open, and you can go through there. Go back to
the boat, and take the ramp, to get through the dam you opened.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 5: Black Mesa East [HL.06.06]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go to the left side, where you see all the buildings. Leave the boat, and wave
it goodbye, because you'll leave it. If you take the right path, you'll end up
in a room, and the doors will close. You reached Black Mesa, and after the
scan, Dr. Mossman will take you down to Eli's lab. After some chit-chat with
Alyx, Dr. Mossman (those 2 don't really get along) and Eli, Alyx will take you
away, because Eli wants her to show you the Gravity Gun. Follow Alyx.

    *Loading*

You'll end up outside, and Alyx will give you the Gravity Gun. She'll tell you
how to use it, so follow her instruction. You'll end up at the other side of
the area, and she'll call Dog, her robot pet. After playing a bit, Combines
will attack, and Alyx will tell you to come with her. Follow her, and you'll
be in the scan chamber. Alyx calls her father, Eli, but the power keeps
dropping down. Gordon (that's you) needs to be taken away. Dog will open the
doors, and Alyx goes through. Dog will tear open the door, so you can do
through too. Follow Alyx. After a short walk, the ceiling will come down, and
Alyx tells you to go to Ravenholm. Eli told you not to do so, but there is
no other way. Follow Dog, and he'll open the door to Ravenholm. Follow the
path, and you'll end this chapter.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 6: "We don't go to Ravenholm" [HL.06.07]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow the path, and you'll end up outside. Reminds you of Resident Evil,
Doom, Silent Hill or whatever scary game that comes in mind, right? Go
straight ahead, and kill the Zombie on the left. Keep going and enter the
barn. In the room left of that, more Zombies will appear, so kill them all.
You can use your Gravity Gun to pick of razorblades or cans, and throw them
at the Zombies. Continue, and take down the 2 new Zombies.

When you keep going, you'll come to an area with a spinning... thing. Go
underneath it, and continue. You'll end up in an area with a Headcrab, and
stuff. Break through the barricade in front of the door, but beware of the
Zombies that'll appear. Outside are even more enemies. Lucky you! Keep going
(kill them though, please) and you'll find a room with Zombies and supplies.
Go what you want (like, kill the supplies and get the Zombies, although I
don't think that's what Valve had in mind when they made this game) and
    continue.

You'll end up in an area with a big fire. You'll meet Father Grigori, who'll
shoot some Zombies for you. Explore the place a bit for supplies. You'll find
Zombies who break open a barricade. Inside the room there, are goodies. If you
spin the wheel, you'll see the fire goes out. Do this with the 2 other fires
that are near too. You'll find a door, where the big fire used to be. If you
go there, and head upstairs, you'll find a lever. Pull it to put the
electricity down. Note where this place is, and find it. Climb the ladder and
go up there. Jump to the other side, to meet Father Grigori again.

Jump down and find a new room. You can enter it through a window. Inside are
even more enemies, and if you keep going, you'll end up outside again, with
quite a lot of Zombies. You don't need to put much effort in killing them
though, because you'll find traps here. If you pull the lever, the car will
fall down, and kill anything that's underneath it. This way, you can kill
all the Zombies. When they are gone, pull the lever of the second car, and
go up, by standing on the car. Find a new room and follow the path.

    *Loading*

Keep going, and you'll see Grigori on the other side again, and he'll be
shooting Zombies and Headcrabs. Help him a bit, by blowing up all the barrels
you see. This will kill most of the enemies. Kill the others yourself, and
go down. Explore for goodies. There used to be a barrel behind a gate, and if
you shot it, the gate is blown away, so you can enter it for goodies. Find
a ladder and climb it. You can go 2 ways from here. Walk to the end, and head
left, for a Black Headcrab and goodies. Go back, and take the other path.
Go down, and continue your walk.

    *Loading*

When you are outside, you'll see Leapers jump around, and one will try to hug
you. Kill it, and explore a bit. You'll encounter a few enemies, and goodies.
When you are done, enter the room with the washing machines. Go upstairs here
and you'll find Grigori again. Be sure to explore the rest of the house before
you head to the roof. Grigori will give you a Shotgun. Use it to kill the
Leapers that appear. Take a long jump, and jump in the water you see. Climb up
and kill more Leapers. Head inside, and call the lift. Once you are down,
you'll find a Piggy Tail Zombie, so take care. See the car with the plank on
it? Head there. On your way through the alley, you'll find a house with
goodies. But just keep going after that.

    *Loading*

Someone will throw barrels down. How nice, I'm sure we can use this later.
This area will be flooded with Zombies, but if you are quick enough, you can
just ignore most. Go straight ahead, and find a room with a lever. It's bit of
a silly description, but once you pulled the lever, something will move down.
Go further to the back of town, and you'll find a way up. Follow it all the
way to the end, and that's back to the beginning of this area. Father Grigori
will be shooting Leapers, and you should to. Jump to the other side, and enter
new room. Continue the journey, and kill the Zombies on your way.

    *Loading*

Take the path up (the one down leads to an area you've already visited), and
kill the Headcrabs. Go outside, and simply follow the path. At the end, you'll
be at the other side of the town, so jump down. Walk down the path, and go
left when you can. If you follow this path, and keep going, you'll find a
door. Open it, and go further to end up at a roof. Father Grigori will be
standing at the other side of the gate, and he'll send a cart, so you can go
there. Until the cart arrives, you'll have to defend yourself against Leapers.
Stand near the pipe you see, and just aim down. Kill the Leapers that keep
appearing, and you shouldn't have any problems. When the cart arrives, enter
it and release the handbrake by pulling the lever. On the other side, step
outside, grab the goodies, and follow Father Grigori.

Just keep following Father Grigori. You'll have various fights with Zombies
and Leapers, but with Father Grigori on your side, it's not a problem.
Eventually, he'll open a gate for you, and you can go to the other side. He'll
leave you there. Open the door you see, and follow it.

In the next room, slowly go down. Do so by jumping from platform to platform,
until you are down in the mine. Don't go down all the way, because there are
a lot of Headcrabs and Black Headcrabs here. Shoot the barrels, and find a
room with supplies for... well, supplies. Go down, and quickly find the other
platform. If you follow it, the enemies can't reach you. Keep on shooting
barrels when you see them. You'll go through a tunnel, and at the end is just
a big hole. That's right, jump in the hole.

It's swimming time. Hooray! Swim to the other side. If you want goodies, let a
Barnacle grab you, and shoot him when he won't pull anymore. You'll land on a
small ledge with goodies. Jump back down. This time, take the other path,
which is blocked. You can jump over it though. Do so, and swim to the other
    side.

You'll see a lever here. If you pull it, the cart and blade will start to move
and kill everything that comes close. And this means all the Zombies that are
on the trail, will get killed. Follow the trail yourself, and don't get hit by
the cart yourself. At the end of the tunnel is light, go there.

Outside! Fresh air! Daylight! Black Headcrab! Kill the Black Headcrab, then
follow the path. You'll encounter Combine Snipers, so watch out. Eventually,
you'll find Combines with Pulse Rifles, so kill them for a new gun. Keep
going, until you find a building on the left. Kill the Combines, and enter it.
Inside, kill the Combines, and you'll hear a new part of the story. Eli is
captured, and Alyx will ask you go help her, so she can free Eli from Nova
Prospekt, a prison. Sure, why not? Some man will arrange a buggy for you, so
grab the goodies and go outside.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Chapter 7: Highway 17 [HL.06.08]
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enter the buggy, and a big magnet will move you away. However, the magnet
fails, and you'll land upside down, and take a bit damage. Leave the car and
flip it over with your Gravity Gun. Enter it again, because Antlions seem to
enjoy attacking you. Find the ships, and drive on the hill, right of them.
Use turbo to jump over the ramp. Hooray! Follow the path. When you see a
shack, you can explore a bit there for goodies. Continue through the tunnel.

    *Loading*

Just keep going, and you'll find a house. The front door is jammed, but if
you go around the house, and smash open the barricade, you'll be able to get
in. Explore for goodies. When you're done, continue, to the next house. In
the small shack are goodies, and in the house are Combines, supplies and a
device that allows you to see a town you'll visit soon. Head back to the buggy
and go to the next house. Kill the Combines here, and get any supplies you
want. Now drive to town and leave the Buggy.

Someone will tell you to go to the basement, so do so. You'll get a short
description of the RPG, and you'll be the lucky one to use it. It's time for
a battle now. With the RPG, you'll have to take down the Gunship. If you're
out of ammo, look around for rockets. You'll find plenty. A medic will always
follow you, in case you get hurt. When the Gunship is destroyed, head back to
the basement, and you'll be thanked. Go to your buggy, and the villagers will
open the gate. Leave the town and keep going.

See the crane? You need to enter it. Go there, and take out anything that
wants to kill you. Once you are in the crane, more Combines will shoot at
you. You can pick up a container, and drop it on them. Find a bridge that's
holding you back from going there with your buggy. Flip it over by throwing
a container at it. Pick up your buggy, and place it somewhere near the bridge.
Go down, but don't enter the buggy yet. Go to the new area, and kill the
Combines inside the building. Find a lever here to open the gate. Get in your
buggy, and get driving. Find a ramp, and use it to jump through the windows.
Continue to drive, and watch out for the Gunship. You'll end up in a tunnel.

    *Loading*

Continue the driving, and search the houses if you want. Drive, until you see
a field that you can't drive through (just like the ones near the trains in
chapter 2). Follow the cables, and you'll see it ends up near a car. The car
is on a hill, and the blocks near the wheels are there to prevent the car from
rolling down. Use your Gravity Gun to get rid of the blocks, and the car will
start to drive. This'll cut the power of the field, and you can go through. Do
    so.

    *Loading*

See all the houses? The biggest one is the one you'll need. On the upper
floor (reach it by stacking up some stuff near the stairs), you can find a
Crossbow. Once you found it, a Piggy Tail Zombie will appear, so I suggest to
leave as soon as you got it. See the bridge? Good. There are even more fields
here, so you can't go there with your buggy for now. Find a door near the
bridge, and enter it. Follow the path.

    *Loading*

The idea is to get to the other side of the bridge. Explore for goodies, but
you'll mainly need those on your way back. Notice the rockets and health
    packs

Very nice man. I didn't go through it all, being that I already beat this game like 3 times in a week, but I like how you added search codes. Real nice to have :)

Thanks for the info. I only read as far as I needed to to figure out how to get past one section. Never would have thought to spin a wheel to raise the water level. LOL.
