Well with school coming soon for me, I'm looking at getting a new notebook pc. I was currently looking at the mac ibook 14 inch. TECH SPECS FOR IBOOK 1.42GHz PowerPC G4 512K L2 cache @1.42GHz 512MB memory (DDR333 SDRAM) 14.1-inch TFT Display 1024x768 resolution ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 32MB DDR video memory 60GB Ultra ATA hard drive SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW) Built-in AirPort Extreme Built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR Scrolling Trackpad Sudden Motion Sensor Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Anyway, two questions: 1. I have photoshop CS and Dreamweaver (for Windows XP), if i were to buy the IBook, would I be able to reinstall those programs onto the IBook? 2. Are there any better notebooks out there for $1,299.00 or less?
nice book, if youre using it for gaming, forget it. but if you just use it for ps or dw, its good enough. 1. you would need the mac version of those progs. Windows progs dont work on mac unless you have an emulator of some sort... 2. I wouldnt know, for macs...
no i aint gonna use an emulator and im not a gamer, its gonna be mostly school work, browsing, ps, and dw... But I also wanna know if other freeware programs such as limewire or ftp clients will work with mac? or is that included in ilife or whatever?
well, limewire is open source, so i think there is a mac vers., but i cant find it on their site. FTP is universal, every OS can use it.
just about every windows program has a mac counterpart....games dont work on mac so well...but you said your not using it for games so...mac will be okay for you
ok but i still have 1 problem.. i have two very expensive programs that I can't carry over to the mac...
you might be able to work something out with the companies that make dw and adobe to give you a deal... they probobly can help you... call their customer service...tell them your situation
Well i can answer ur first two questions. Yes, and no. You can buy the Mac versions of both CS and Dreamweaver MX. Both easy to find, but yea, you would need new disks But see, i got a PC emulator!! Got Windows XP Professional running on my G5
I called up adobe and i sent them back my PC copy of photoshop and they sent me a copy of it for mac, you should try that. and stottpie reason he wants a mac is because they are better than windows ever can be.
