Ok a lot of people here use this word to often and not in the right context. Ignorant basically in lamen terms means that when it comes to a certain topic or to doing a certain things you know nothing. Most of you should substitute the word ignorant with the word stupid. Stupid means you know very little of anything and have trouble learning new things. If you are going to call someone ignorant then you have to have a clear reason to do so. Calling someone ignorant for spelling like this dat shiz be bumpin dawg (or whatever it is) is using the word in its rightful context because you are refering to their spelling ability and the fact that they don't know how to, atleast on the computer. They are there for ignorant to spelling. It does not mean they are stupid because they clearly have the ability to learn correctly. If they were mentally ill (Retarded for you stupid people) then you have the right to call them stupid because they will clearly not be able to learn to spell correctly or very little if anything. You now know how to use the word ignorant in its correct context and I hope you do so. Calling someone ignorant for posting a thread in the wrong board is using the word in its correct context because they do not know that a game thread belongs in the gaming board and not the general board. So lets overview. Stupid: Having very little or no knowledge of things and a small learning copacity. Ignorant: Not knowing how to do something such as being bad at math (you are ignorant when it comes to math) but having the ability to learn (getting better at it over time by learning). There we go. I hope you find this thread useful.
Yeah it makes me laugh when I see people using the word when they know nothing of the meaning. It doesn't means someone is stupid. But far from it.
Ignorant can also be similar to stubborn, meaning you ignore certain facts and stuff in a topic so that what your opinion is comes across better.
Ignorant deals only with knowledge. Look in your dictionary. I bet you that you will not see the word stubborn. Anyone can be stubborn not because they don't know better but because they want to.
