Wouldn't it be awesome to have a messenger that can translate a convo between people who speak totally different languages? If anyone here knows how to program, (or anyone that does) I bet they could make a ton off one of these.... unless one already exists and I don't know about it. What do you guys and gals think?
Would be a great idea, but only if the translations were perfect, not like google translations that don't use the right grammar I can program, if I could find a way to make a perfected translator then I'd try it....
It would be great, but I doubt the translator would be able to keep up with slang. Too many people use it now adays, Nice idea, but dont think it would be possible.
well im sure this idea has been thought up before, im sure it would take a ---- load of coding though. i guess itd bee a cool challenge for more expirienced coders.
it would take a ----load of coding, a really solid translator program, which you would have to code yourself to make profit from it, and the truth is, how often do you meet people on the internet who speak a different language altogether?
well, if they can do it over the phone now, why not over chatting? I know it will be hard for us to create, but IBM already has phone translations under their arm...
i think that those calls you're talking about have a live person monitoring the conversation and translating, no?
It's already been done, www.freetranslations.com have an AIM plugin that translates to other languages, but I believe there is a monthly subscribtion fee, although I'm not sure EDIT: It's for AOL Messenger
Yea i was gonna say that www.freetranslation.com has it and i've seen it done on other websites but this idea has already been done.
That is a good idea but not sure how many people would use it. Sure there will be a few people thats like thats just what i need but theres probably not enough for soemthing like that to make money.
