What Program Do You Use For...?

What program do you use to create videos like the ones people make for full sig tuts? (where it records the desktop etc...). A friend told me to just use a video camera but I was wondering if there is such a program to do the above mentioned.

camtasia studio,windows ex movie maker,or some other air program you can download

Camtasia Studios is very good but it costs money, although there is a 30 day trial.
