I am taking World History Honors this year and history dates back to when the first human like mammals roamed the Earth. We are now studying them and it is very interesting to me. For those who do believe that God created man please do not argue because science deals not with religion. Following the word of god or science you can still come to the conclusion that the first man arose in the mid-eastern region of Africa. I myself believe in god as I am a Catholic though I also believe in what science has to say. It's an interesting topic and one I like to discuss.
I don't want to flame at all but I do want to ask you 1 question. If you do beleive in God, do you beleive He created the earth and everything in it in 6 litteral days? If you say yes to that, you can trace the seed line all the way from adam till Jesus Crist himself. (That boring part that says this dude has this kid after this many years.... They wrote that section in there for this reason lol) Which totals about 4000-5000 years. Jesus caused the change from BC to AD.... after a few years of his birth. So that would give us a total of 6000-7000 at the lastest, possibly 8000 years this earth has been around. But that is only if you think He really made it all in 6 days.
My belief on it all: Science has proved some very basic things: UNIVERSE IS WAYY TOO ****IN BIG FOR US TO BE ALL ALONE OUT HERE. That fact is what eternally divides religion and scientology. Gravity. Science proved dat. Weather. Theres a science for that. Friction. IMO, Religion is quite a silly concept, if you think about it. Do you honestly think we're all alone out here, and a 'heavenly' figure, just suddenly decided 'poof' and earth happened, in a week. I think thats way too ****ing out there. Back to the belief on the alien race. I believe, and still believe we worshipped a higher race, that we could not comprehend back then, so we believed them to be gods. It perfectly explains the Greek, Roman, Bhuddist, and/or Egyptian religions. They put us here, it makes sense. There are some pieces from the bible, like how 'god created man in his own image.' That makes sense - IF you consider this next belief of mine. Perhaps, all the 'higher species' left Earth. Well, what if, IF, one came back, and used his technology to implant a baby into the Christian term, the 'Virgin Mary.' And that son, aka Jesus, was given some of the powers of the higher species referred to as 'God.' 'God', was most likely a renegade of the higher species, an outcast, for reasons unknown. And Jesus went around speading Christianity, and thats one way to think of it. I dont know enough about Judaism or Islam to come up with theories for those, sorry. So, if you think of it like that, if the 'higher species' came back to Earth, the weaker minded would say "OMFG, GOD HAS COME!" or Mohammed or whoever. But, most likely, they will not visit us because we, as humanity, would not understand them, or their return. This also explains UFOs, them coming to check up upon us. ****, I dont really know, just an educated guess if you consider what we know today. Perhaps when the time is right we shall be visited and theyll make it all clear. Or, we all kill each other in nuclear war, and they visit the remains of humanity. Ill hide in a bunker, and Ill pop out and be like, "OMFG, H4X!"
It won't turn into a flae war because he only wants one side of the story...I have to disagree, but oh well...There's no proof for evolution, but there is proof of an all powerful God, whether you wanna believe it or not...
I'm atheist and have pretty strong views on religion, so I won't say them here. Lets just say I belive in science.
Me too...Science has explained basically everything that the historical people thought were ''acts'' of god...god is like santa clause...just some dude made up so you will behave nicely.
well, for me, how do you know if the one we praise as 'God' is an alien? I mean, according to MIB, we're just a galaxy in a marble. I know it's just a movie, but there's always that 'what if?' that lingers in my mind. Same thing with Adam and Eve... If they lived that long ago, they must have been gorillas, because that's how we envolved... this is making my head spin....
Same here. I'm staying out of this, I'm tired of defending my belief in God, but I'm going to quote something here for everyone to see: in other words, this dude didn't even want to discuss religion, and whenever religion is discussed someone ends up flaming. So if you guys don't want to cause some friction with other members on here I say don't discuss this or at least keep it to pm's. I don't want to read things talking down to me, so I'm out of this thread
Ahh! But, in evolution, there is a question about the missing link between man and ape. And that, my friends, totally opens that up to religion, and my personal beliefs.
I thought World History at school was suppose to not talk about your beliefs  btw are you a sophemore?
personally i grew up believing science and relegion CAN co-exist, people who say that science presents fact have to realize that everything in science is theoritical, there are still many grey areas in science, these grey areas are filled with theories (another word for guesswork) so evn science requires a certain amount of blind belief. science bieng man made is imperfect, whereas in many ways the earth and nature are models of perfection and harmony (ignoring pollution deforestation and all the other sh*t were doing) this is one of the things thatdrive me towards a belief in god. however everyone is entiteled to tyheir own opinion and i was only stating mine oh and this WILL turn into a flame thread
Yeah I'm a sophmore. Um actually science doesn't proove anything. It can only disproove it. It's a little hard to comprehend but nothing in science is true because nothing will stay the same forever. It is not rpooven that there is gravity. That is a theory. At one point or another Earth will loose gravity and it will there fore be disprooven and that is where they get the "Science can only be disprooven."
