^_^ ok, i have plans that when im 16/17/18 to highly upgrade my current pc, or build a new one.... my plans are to convert, or build a pc with these specs at least 3.5ghZ prosccessor speed (i use ALOT of huge programs at one time... bad habit) 2 or 3 gb of memory(prolly a few memory sticks ^_^ ) now i dont know much about the ram, but i think 300 mb of ram from my research 7 in 1 media reader and dual DVD: top combo, bottom sub quick burner 3 firewire ports(2 isnt enough right now) 10 usb(in all) and DVI and S-Video out(skate video editing ) and ive recently come to learn that there is such a thing as 5.1 audio out! so i prolly want that! ANY IDEAS AT WHAT THIS WOULD COPST ME?? thanx in advance, clay p.s.- and chrome casing(or if i have enough money, PLEXI CLEAR!)
you can't even get 300mb of ram you should be lookin at around 1 gb if you running lots of big programs at the same time
could i just get a 300 gig external for my custom? or maybe just put games on it and hook it up when i want the games? im wondering, whats the fastest prossecsor i can get? but at a decent price? cause i want fast with no lag while im running photoshop, firefox, and dreamweaver, possibly fashMX2004(a huge program) im off to micky d's, i wont reply immediately
you're mixing up ram, memory, and hard drive memory is the same thing as ram, and you want at least 1gb, but probably 2gb from what you're describing hard drive.... depends on what you want do you want a ---- load of storage? i'd go for like 300gb, but personally i prefer my 10k rpm 80gb, it writes 50% faster than the usual 7.5k rpm 300gb drive as for your processor, amd chips are cheaper and better, so I recommend them over intel. for running lots of programs simultaneously, you can look into the new FX-57 chip, which is dual core and I think rated around 5000+. It will run you at least $1000 (us) so let's see, a total price? 2gb ram: anywhere from $200-350 depending on quality 7500 rpm 320gb hard drive will cost about $130-160 motherboard will cost anywhere from $50-200 depending on quality - a side note about motherboards: you can get 7.1 integrated audio on most good motherboards, so you won't have to buy an additional sound card any good quality case will cost you at least 50, and upwards of 150 dollars a power supply unit, go for at least 500w, that will cost around 50 video card: right now the 6800 ultra is a very good value at around $250, but if you want the best then it has to be the 7800gtx which goes for around $480 monitor(s): if you are looking for effeciency then my highest recommendation is 19" samsung LCD monitors x2 they cost around 250each, so that's 500 I won't factor in an operating system, because you can just use your reinstallation disc from your current computer. so the final cost? a little lower than $3000 my advice is to never scimp on the case, because cheap cases are a bitch to assemble with, and they dent easily. a cheap motherboard is a cheap motherboard... you get what you pay for. some people are tempted to scimp on the motherboard because there is really no "wow factor" to judge a motherboard on. if you get a decent one you won't have to buy an additional sound card. look for at least 4gb supported ram, make sure the chipset is nvidia nforce4 ultra, or sli. Since I'm recommending an AMD chip, I'm also recommending an AMD compatible motherboard, make sure it's socket 939 as that is what most of their chips are compatible with. there ARE alternative dual core processors, but they're still not cheap. i really don't like intel, they're expensive and amds perform much better, not to mention amds are the only true 64 bit processors, which will be utilized better next year when windows vista is realized. single core processors are much cheaper, and will run virtually the same for games and other single application processes. but if you're multitasking you're going to want the dual core, as it works better with multiple applications. as for your alternatives: fx-55: ~$800 x2 4600+: $700 x2 4400+: $550 Myself, I use a amd athlon 64 4000+ san diego core, it costs about $375 it's a great chip for the money. but again it's not dual core.
thank you much my m8ey! i will have to print this fine information and save it for my future! thanx, clay
Yeah dual core if you run as many big programs as you say. My X-2 4800+ has never struggled with anything even playing a game and burning a dvd...
well its just me it depends on how old u are now, prices may go up or things may chabge so its tough to say, just my opinion though dont no ---- aout building computers
newegg is pretty expensive. :| if money is an issue i recommend www.mwave.com - my first computer was from newegg but then i learned how much better i could have made if it i had gone to another site
