okay im still deciding to get which video card LOL, and i found they were selling sapphire radeon x850 pro for only TOTAL of (means tax is already counted) $447.35 in CANADIAN.
and i was originally suppose to buy a 6600GT, which is total of $264.48

    sapphire x850 pro

    Geforce 6600 GT

    1) Is there a big comparison between the two? please explain why
    2) should i spend extra 182.87 bucks just for getting a x850pro over a 6600 gt?
    3) exactly how powerful is x850 pro? can it run high games like battle field 2 in high settings?
    4) You think i should buy x850 pro? or should i buy 6600 gt and wait for a card that is better then x850 pro when its cheaper?

    thanks

I have a 6600GT and it is a good card for the price. I was told (by some dude on some channel. awesome source i know) that is the best card now for price/perfomance. The 6600 seems expensive. And I wish I could tell you if how well it ran BF2, but my card crapped out on me and its getting replaced at the moment.

So if nothing else, this post at least gives you a BUMP.

x850 pro is a lot better than the 6600gt. But I don't know if the price goes up marginally with the performance. 6600gt had the best price/performance point right now. With the 7800GT being released you might see 6800 and 6800GT price drops, perhaps you should wait a little bit.

Both cards will be able to play BF2 pretty easily I suspect.

O I wouldn't recommending buying a system or parts(maybe) from Canada Computers haven't heard good things about them, specifically the Pacific Mall location.

    Do u care?
If u have the money to spend go with the ATI card. Unless u really want a nvidia but in that case u should look at the 6800 instead. comparing a x850 with a 6600 isnt really ok.

if you plan on buying the x850, then just buy the geforce 7800gtx.

it runs rings around any ati card out right now

ok after looking around I have found out more info for you.

    x800 is better than a 6600GT
    x800 is better than a 6800GT
    7800 is better than a x800
    7800 is better than a x850

So get the x800 as it will play all current games maxed out.

Ok here are some prices -
Radeon x800 XT - Has lower clock speeds that the XL version but overclocks like a charm. - $249.99
Radeon x800 XL - Has higher clock speeds that the XT but doesnt overclock well - $229.99
XFX 7800 GT - Factory overclocked (GREAT VALUE!!) - $399.99
Radeon x850 XT Platinum - Good card but extra $50 to get a 7800 is better value - $349.99

I say get either the x800 XL or the 7800 GT.

What company was your 6600 that crapped out on you?? I had a BFG 6600 GT OC and it broke on me in the first 12 hours. So I got it replaced. Its a good card. But I would go with the x850 Pro. The only thing I hate about mine is it only has 128mb of video memory which is a bummer. But I have 2 gigs of Kingston Pc3200 ram so it makes up for it. LOL.

My 6600 runs BF Really good. But I would suggest the x850.

Also is yours AGP or Pci-Express? Cause mine is Pci-Express.

It was an MSI. I'm not sure what they put in now really.

And I ran BF2 on high. I don't know it would work with a full server, but it was running okay on my clans server but only with like 7 people in the game.

    And its PCI.

I'm going to get that card but I'm waiting as long as possible. I'll wait until Oblivion comes out, and if my card can run it (low settingsish) then I'll wait till like February when its nice and cheap.
