I foudn this accross the net, some guy had overclocked his P4 3.8, to 7.0GHZ. Thats crazy. http://blue.ap.teacup.com/applet/memesama3...0050809/archive Heres his post (in jap) but with pics of CPU-Z and Super Pi. And his got shots of his mobo with white frost stuff, so i am guessing he froze his pc in ice or something. f1re
It doesn't seem possible that it could get to 7.0 Ghz, but you did, would need a lot fo fans to keep it cool.
sorry! forgot to add site link. i added the link. eh AudioX, it wasnt me who got it to 7ghz. i found an article on smoene who did with pics too.
Heh. He built his computer into a refrigeration unit. Pretty nifty. I wonder if its stable... Ah well. There isnt anything that his 3.8Ghz couldnt do right now, except for maybe play Quake3 AND Halo at the same time, or something, so he should stop trying to break stuff. If he really needs to spend money that badly, send it to me
That was probably for a couple minutes. I'm sure after that something horrible goes wrong--some planet in a parallel universe ceases to exist. But that is some nifty cooling.
Ofcourse it was a japanese guy to pull this one off, haha. I think they happen to know a little too much, all advances in electronics are basically from them.
If you had a way to cool it constantly with nitrogen, you could run it forever at 7GHz. I wouldnt attempt it unless you had enough money to go buy another CPU for kicks, but would be fun to try and see what you could get it up to.
I remember seeing something like this, but in video for at Tom's Hardware...but it wasn't overclocked to 7Ghz. Impressive.
Was he pumping some ----ing liquid nitrogen or some ---- around that processor? That's some crazy man right there, i was scared to overclock my P4 3.2 to 3.4.
I had my 2.8 OC'd to 3.6 for about 2 minutes on fans alone. Then it blue screeened and rebooted. I put it back to normal and havent tried it again.
