Hey im having problems with my internet speed it always seems to go very slow when browsing and even slower when downloading.

    I have a 1 MBPS broadband connection

I am through a router but it is saying the speed is 54.0 mbps

I am unsure what the speed is when i am browsing the internet

    I am downloading AA 2.4 ( 885 MB ) speed = average 34.5 KBPS

Can anybody help or give me any pointers?

well with broadband it shouldnt be slow and maybe you should get a 108 mbps router mine works great, and are you using a wireless connector or a wire to connect to your router

What cable company do you use?

Also this is a great site to help you out, browse around the forums.

They have programs to help you out too.

    http://www.speedguide.net/

And try resetting both your modem and router, unplug them for about a minute.

    Then try www.testmyspeed.com

Your download speeds are also going to be dependant on where the servers are you are d/l from and what their connection speeds are.

And the 54Mb is 802.11G wireless, not your connection speed. The 1 Mb is yours. The best thing to do it run a speed test to see what you are actually getting in terms of speeds.

Google for tests around you. in the us, I know of www.dslreports.com, www.toast.net and a few others

If you are in the UK or elsewhere, I dont know any.
