I got a virus via msn (it sends itself) its quite irritating
it makes all the people online pop up and sends itself to them which gets on my nerves
norton anti virus does not pick it up cos it does not see it as a threat
and its slowed down my computer by quite a bit

please help me on ways to get rid of it

Go into savemode and just get a new virs scanner from download.com. Did you run Nortons Live Update? The latest definitions have something like that. I read them.

    1. get Avast (http://avast.com) and get the home version. the file you download has the latest Anti-virus database. run a boot-time scan (it will ask you after you install it), it will scan all your folders and memory before the virus has a chance to start.

    2. backup and re-install. if avast can't kill it, nothing can.

    3. If the first two don't work, burn your hard drive, or blow it up...

    Yeah, what {DRB}LOGAN said:

I forgot to mention this earlier, but NORTON SUKS ARSE! Man, even Nod32, Avast, or others will detect viruses before Norton even knows it's there..

True norton sux i hate it - never found no viruses with it whereas i use mcafee and works perfect :D and along with MS AntiSpyware tool it works 100% great :D I forgot how i removed the MSN virus from my friends but this is a old virus. Download MS AntiSpyware tool andanother decent antivirus software called ZoneAlarm which is free. Works quite decent as well or AVG from grisoft.com. Get also adaware as well but recommend getting MS AntiSpyware

Zonealarm is good, but don't try BitTorrent with it, it bitches up everything.

Another good firewall is Sygate, also free.
