Ping Is Crappy!

Ok this is messed up! my ping is crappy in games like Counter Strike : Source and in any other Online game. Anyways i have cable (or broadband NO i dont have DSL its crap!) anyways is their a way to fix this im about to call up my Cable provider and say "Whyz me ping to high eh?" lol. But seriously before i call them iw ant to know your opinions or get some help from all of you. And yes i delete cookies,remove spyware,remove viruses. And delete temporary file and defrag my stuff and what not. This is :censored: i wanna play with no lag help me!

 

I have to reset my internet and then my ping is good for the rest of the week.

 

I tried that going to CP and opening my internet and then disabling it and unplug everything and replug everything and enable it and clikc repair but still i have crappy ping! :censored: ;(

 

sometimes i get crappy ping for no reason too :blink:

okay i used to have a ping of 200-400 and i thought hey the higher the better but then i realised it was bad so i went to my steam options and set my internet connection to a higher one


ex:i have on 56k b4 so i put it to 112k

and it worked..hoped it helped

 

it depens where the server is located i guess the closer you live to it the lower ping you have cause i have like 30 and lower ping in jk2 and even had a ping of 1

 

Yeah, the post above is correct, the closer you are next to the server or host, the better your ping will be. I also wouldn't rag on some dsl, I know Verizon DSL offers speeds of 3mb download and 768k upload, while Comcast(Cable) internet is a 4 mb download and an advertised 384k upload although mine never makes it near that. And multiplayer games rely on upload, so basically Verizon's DSL upload is 2 times better than Comcast's cable upload, Comcast is one of the most widely spread cable companies too.

 

Well it also depends on your firewall as well - Try unblocking your firewall if it makes a difference and try with it on (well thats if you have a firewall(?))

 

yeah when i play battlefield 2 my ping is diffrent because i always listen to internet radio while i play bf2 ^_^ and during the day my ping is umder 70 but at night after 8o clock its around 120-200 but it dosent lag its just high to i dunno ^_^ i hate servers that have ping blocks(if your ping is over 140 u get booted)

 

if your isp is comcast well that sux because they are notorious for having a very bad connection while gaming online.

 

Keep calling them everytime you have a problem, they will eventually fix it and tell you the secrets.
