Hmm guys i hear a lot of people reccomending MACs to people who are going to buy new computers or laptops. I know that MACs are used more than PCs when it comes to GRAPHIC DESIGN or Video Production so i guess its more professional, but would someone please tell me why? I mean ive been to an APPLE STORE and ive tried the MAC computers, they are cool but why do they get such a big nod over regular PC's? What significant characteristics does it have over PCs? Whats the big deal basically...can someone plz spare a couple minutes and explain to me whats up with all the MAC hype and why its preferred so much over PCs... i mean if its really that great i would like to know why and maybe i will buy one (might give away creds or you know what to someone who helps me out with a GREAT explanation )
well i geuss its alot about the hype of apple (mac) comin back. They went practically out in the 90's but then all of a sudden they did a huge comeback with the IPods, new inovative designs, style, and power. Also, Mac computers are smaller than a PC and just as powerful if not more. Sure, PC has more programs and applications, but at the rate that mac is goin it might sure bypass PC computers by alot. For now I am putting my confidence in macs. Of course its also a matter of view, i favor macs.

MAC's hardware is integraded and is not as versitle when it comes to upgrading the hardware specs... However things such as HD size/ RAM specs can be upgraded.... Heres the way I understand it. More people buy PC's because the parts are cheaper and it is easier to put together, try putting a mac together... Most gamers like PCs better for their video cards. Gfx people do use macs more because it is cleaner than PC, have you seen all the PS problems on here? The old macs sucked like arse, because they would crash many times, but with the later OS's, It got better. Same as windows.
Yeah, Macs and games don't really go good together...But I so love Macs for everything else...also... GARAGEBAND...woohoo! Has anyone used that sweetness program?
Macs are more currently "hip". Most of the computer n00bs get them because they look good. I have to agree that the new ones are alot better than the os 9 but still I would prefer PC anyday. PC's are cheaper and have a hella lot more things compatable for them.
I suggest Macs for gfx only because most of the programs were programmed for Macs originally. Anything else, I would say a PC. Anything gaming you want a PC, also, I'm not sure about servers, but I think Windows is better for hosting as well, I'm not too sure though.
like i said in my post...if gfx, movies, music is your reason for buying a comp than go with a mac... I myself prefer linux btw...did you find my post helpful?
I will never buy a Mac because of one major reason: can't build one myself. And I love to build pc's and overclock them, so I stay away from Mac's (though I do recognize that they are good for certain people and applications).

Blizzard rocks. :lol: Macs are a lot more stable that Windows since Mac resolves all/almost all holes so it can release a very stable OS. M$ will release a new OS because they know people will upgrade to it so they hurry up doing it and patch the holes later. Macs have almost no viruses, there was only a couple in the past but were resolved. There are also no spyware. No, its a lot more secure on macs because its running on UNIX. I'm getting mine by the end of the month. I'm getting it because I want to do a lot of graphic design (including flash) and try to do some music. If it weren't for that I wouldn't get one. Did anyone see the new mice? Its like the best thing ever. I'm getting one for sure
Well, funny how my PC running Windows 2000 Professional NEVER CRASHES or FREEZES. Thats because Windows 2000 is the most stable OS Microsoft ever made. Oh this is a Mac thread.... errr... they suck
that was probably an old mac, running OS9 or earlier. I hated those, too, but with OSX, the macs are alot better. same with Pc's. They had their ups and downs... and @ chubaka2, yes, Win2000 was the best OS ever, a LARGE improvement over the WORST OS, Windows ME (Millenium Edition) that ME just sucked soooooooooooooooooooooooo much...
