Fruity loops is basically a program for creating the loops to put in your songs, you can make songs with it but it's not really meant to and it doesn't have all the features other programs such as Acid have.

Reason has it all, you can connect keyboards and other external machines. You can really make good stuff with it. Only downside is it takes some time to master it

(a friend of mine has it so I know what I'm talking about)

A lot of people use Cubase but it's a bit of a bitch tbh, I mainly use Adobe Audition it's nice and simple to use and you'll pick it up in no time.

I mainly use Adobe Audition as well. Its a bit easier to use for sound editing. Fruity Loops would be the best to make beats and such but its really hard to learn. Lots of functions in there including a voice generator thing which is cool.
