I also mentioned Sims 2. Thompsons next target. Look man, with the Patriot act they pretty much f***ed the 1st amendment. And if they deem it fit to "protect us children from the evil" they'll do it. I would say its a little extreme, but very possible if game developers push the right buttons. NOTE TO GAME DEVELOPERS: FFS QUIT MAKING GTA REMAKES AND SUCH, YO. MAKE UP SOMETHING NEW!!! NOTE TO MOD DEVELOPERS: FFS QUIT MAKING PR0N MODS WE CAN LOOK AT REAL PR0N FOR FREE AND NOT GET IN TROUBLE FOR IT!! Ugh... NOTE TO HAXORZ: QUIT EDITING THE GAME CODE, THATS GONNA GET US IN MORE TROUBLE. Ok, Im done.
He won't get anywhere with the Sims 2, simply becuase the developers did not animated the bodies of the sims under their clothes. Those nudity mods are only skins that the mod creators made. You can't go after a game developer for something they didn't do. I fail to see how the Patriot Act applies to the Sims. It can apply to the GTA series if you twist and bend the Act, but with the Sims 2, that's just stretching it too far.
How could he shut us down? We do nothing wrong, we dont try and get kids to kill their parents and we dont have kiddie porn. Any anime with graphic nudity is completly legal. He cant shut us down
this doesnt make sence to me , i mean if this really does happen , wat they gonna do? go to every house in the world searching for games and taking them away? and the warez sites? wat will happen to the game companies? they are not only preventing us from playing our favourite games , they are shutting down companies , and makin people so pissed off , but there are allways the shops that sell copied games ,so wat they gonna close all shops too? if i see this man in my way i will take his head off
Shane - it doesnt relate - except for the fact it violates the Constitution which games are 'supposedly' protected under nazar - our sigs/art (i prefer callin it art), some of them depict violence, some depict soft semi-porn, and easily accessed by little preteens. Shotokan - Think the old Prohibition days, but video games instead of alchohol.
Prohibition didn't work. It just increased the amount of bootleg alcohol being transported and made in this country. It's a good idea in theory, but if you tell people they can't do something, some will want to do it. It's human nature. The same thing will happen with video games. Besides, one argument that these fools like Thompson won't consider is that there are some gamers who play GTA so they can experience things like that without doing it in real life. There are some pretty messed up people in the world, and if people couldn't play games to relieve stress, the sociological implications of the ban could be enormous. BTW, I'm speaking as a game designer. So my arguments aren't coming from some kid sitting behind a computer 24/7.
Look man, Im just stating the worse case scenario, which Ive learned to always be prepared for. Something will happen, but probably not what Ive been talking about.
They will try, but nothing will come of it. The game industry is a multi-trillion dollar worldwide industry. What they are doing could have widespread impact on the industry if they take it too far. Not to mention that I'd be out of a job.
