Simple Ipb Question

    hey i just have a simple question about ipb , how can i download a backup for my forum's database?

    PM BFTP, he's a real brainiac at IPB stuff, look at his Avater, and Member Title, IPB God, Invioneer. ;)

    In admin cp go down the left side and click on SQL Management. The second option in there is my SQL backup.

    i would , but am working on my forum right now and i need to know how to make backup for database now , so incase i make any mistakes , i can get everything back to normal , and hes offline

    Is your board up at the moment? If so do as I said and you can put it back the way it is now.

    the mySQL backup is only for backing up users and stuff right? i mean i will try to install some mods so if i miss up and wanna try all over again , the my SQL backup wont be enough..i mean it wont backup all my forum right?

    It backs up your forum. Thats why it is names my SQL backup.

    so i dont need to do a backup from the cpanel? ( i only have forums in my website ) okie thin good , if it backs up all forum files :)

    Well I am not BFTP. BUt from what I understand, it "backs up your SQL". If you have any doubts, wait for a second or more professional opinion, before making your mods.

    Close Hydrogen, SQL backup is only half the battle.

    You need to go to "Backup" in cPanel; and then go to Full backup. Or, as Hydrogen said SQL backup, then open your FTP prog, and drag all the forum files into a folder on your desktop.

    but bftp , doesnt the full back , backup all the home directory? in that case it backups my forums folders , so why would i need to have them copied to my computer as well? and is full backup +sql backup all i need or just full backup?

    I was giving you 2 different methods; yes a full backup, backsup SQL and the whole server directory.
