PM BFTP, he's a real brainiac at IPB stuff, look at his Avater, and Member Title, IPB God, Invioneer.
In admin cp go down the left side and click on SQL Management. The second option in there is my SQL backup.
i would , but am working on my forum right now and i need to know how to make backup for database now , so incase i make any mistakes , i can get everything back to normal , and hes offline
the mySQL backup is only for backing up users and stuff right? i mean i will try to install some mods so if i miss up and wanna try all over again , the my SQL backup wont be enough..i mean it wont backup all my forum right?
so i dont need to do a backup from the cpanel? ( i only have forums in my website ) okie thin good , if it backs up all forum files
Well I am not BFTP. BUt from what I understand, it "backs up your SQL". If you have any doubts, wait for a second or more professional opinion, before making your mods.
Close Hydrogen, SQL backup is only half the battle. You need to go to "Backup" in cPanel; and then go to Full backup. Or, as Hydrogen said SQL backup, then open your FTP prog, and drag all the forum files into a folder on your desktop. BFTP
but bftp , doesnt the full back , backup all the home directory? in that case it backups my forums folders , so why would i need to have them copied to my computer as well? and is full backup +sql backup all i need or just full backup?
I was giving you 2 different methods; yes a full backup, backsup SQL and the whole server directory. BFTP
Well as I said, I am not you, I am still learning IPB. But now I know. Thanks for the info. "And knowing is half the battle" -G.I. Joe
