Text Following A Path

when you click on the pen with the little dots coming out of it, you go up in to the bar below the bar with "file/edit/image...etc"
and right there you'll see the pen options, switch it to the one with the box around it, after that click on the "T" or text button and hover over the line and it will change to a line with a curve on the bottom and top of it, click then type

I spelt box wrong, accidently put boc, edit that or people will get confused

whenever i try this my text comes out looking cruddy, sort of jagged like i rotated it manually....any suggestions?
