Gr Needs An Upgrade?

Maybe it's just me, but sometimes, usually evenings for me here in USA EST, the site starts to slow down. I can't post, and it takes 30 seconds to move from page to page. I have dsl, do it shouldn't be THIS bad.

Maybe GR is due for an upgrade.

 

This happens to me usually around 9:30 till 10 PM.

Probably just because the site is really active then.

 

GR has a darn good server; its not that GR needs an update, its that GR has so much stuff=P

Around the time you experience downtime, is when the GR server is doing its "daily" backup- the main admin, Llam, is from England, so he schedules the downtime so that it won't affect him or most of the mods( since a good majority of them are from England) and it won't affect his work on the site.

GameRenders is around the 30 gig mark, in terms of space, so its sometimes a longer process in backing up then most forums your use to going.

I have decided to reschedule the site backups to another time in order to decrease the slow down people are experiencing.

Instead of happening at 8pm (GMT-6), the backups will happen at midnight and a smaller backup at midday.

Hopefully you should see load times decrease as a result.
