I have CuteFTP Pro 6.0 and whenever I try to connect to my site to upload some things, I get this message: The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it. Its not the host, because this has done this with about 20 sites, all of which I know work. I think it may be my firewall or virus-scan, but I dont know how to configure it so that it allows it. I have Kapersky Anti-virus and Sygate Person Firewall Pro. Could anyone help me?
well hi .. youre from grim heh .... i think the problem is that the host now may not accept FTP ... or ... the server is offline ...
It could be a number of things. But more than likely if you know it's online and is acepting ftp then it's not accepting anymore connections.
I use CuteFTP Pro 6 and Kaspersky antivirus too. If the server wasnt accepting anymore connections then CuteFTP would give that as an error message saying that was the problem. The error message you are getting (The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it) is probably caused by the hostname not being typed in correctly or that the server's FTP connection software isnt running.
You might want to check your internet connection and make sure it is getting clean connections. If a host is actively refusing, its usually because the connection is not continuous and you therefore get refused access. Firewalls with proxy reroutes are notorious for this (if they are set up incorrectly).
