It should be fine as long as you don't reformat both hard drives. The easiest way to do a format with 2 hard drives is to put all the files you want to keep on the second hard drive (the slave) and then unplug the power connector to it just in case. Then format the C drive (master drive)

Thats a good idea, but yeh how big are his hard drives. lol
you might be looking at using like 100 cds or like 19 DVD-R.

im running 2x 46 gig harddrives on raid 0. so putting all data on 1 and formating the other isnt really an option.
as it is im burning all the things i need to dvd.
how do i go about formating 2 harddrives anyway?

First you would install windows by following the proceedure for formatting the drive.

After you have done install Windows on the first hard drive you would right click my computer then select manage.

In the computer manager on the left side it will say storage. Expand it, and select disk mangement. It'll load all your drives.

Find your second hard drive on the right. Right click it and select format. Warning pops up and select yes. And let it do it's stuff.

That's pretty much all there is to doing 2 hard drives.

I would seriously consider using your second drive as storage rather than isntalling programs on. It's alot easier to reformat if you do. :)

Also, if you want the procedure for formatting both the drives then here is the way I do it:

    - Boot from the Windows CD. You can do this by going into your bios and selecting the first boot device as your CD drive instead of your floppy disk drive (which should be the default).

    - Windows will then load up some stuff from the CD and present you with options to install windows/repair an installation. Select to install windows and choose to install it on the drive you already have it installed on. It should then give you an option to format.

    - After formatting, install windows by booting of the windows CD rom again.

To add on to what Llama said, right after you reformat and install windows make a copy of your system right onto a cd. It prevents you from having to reinstall from scratch every time.
