Maybe all of your PS2 games got scratched? Or damaged some how.
Or maybe you messed with the lens?

If you havent opened it up yet(taking out the screws) And your warrenty is still good. You should send it in to Sony and they will fix it for free ^_^

Ps2 lasers are total ----! especially the older versions :(

You can exchange it for about 80 euro (in europe :P)
A guy from Sony will come by ur house and give u a revised one.

I got his on my 2001 PS2, and one day i decided screw this, so i went out and bought a slim PS2, and its totaly worth it its so much faster when you start it in the begining, and its so quite even when its hot, and also its thin like hell!
Cleaning and dusting it off, will probably wont work, just buy the new PS2, and live happly ever after.

Nah, the people at Bestbuy are just morons. ;) This happened to my PS2, I just took it apart and cleaned the lens with a q-tip and some rubbing alcahol and it ran like new. Taking it apart WILL void you're warrenty but I got mine off of e-bay so I didn't have a warrenty anyway.

If cleaning doesnt work, you may be out of luck if its not under warrenty. But there are some sites out there where people can fix this if you send it out. But I dont think its cheap.

If it is out of warrenty Sony will still fix it for you but you will have to pay them. If it is still under warrenty Sony will fix it for free.

    Buy another one...

Some parts are pretty screwed, and well, its quite hard to find the problem, as there are quite a number of possibilities...
