Do any of you guys know what it means when a pc says "Your vitual memory is low, windows is resizing it for you". I only have about 2 programs running when it says this and my system try is always empty. I currently have a gig of memory so I don't get it. What you all think.

Yeah I've done all that. Got at least 2 different spywares, 2 firewalls, and 2 anitviruses running. So I don't think that's it.

It has only done it when im at a computer with Windows XP. And it has done it on every Windows XP computer i have used for longer than a day.
So maybe its just something that XP runs every now and then?

Virtual memory too low means that you have a crappy video card. You need to get a better one.

Kind of.. It has nothign to do with the power of your graphics card as such. It is a combination of HD and RAM (Page File) and the amount Windows Allocates to processing things such as games etc.

You need to increase your Virtual or Physical from task manager, or somewhere in control panel..

If you list the specs of ur machien I'll be able to let u know to waht you should set it

Well all those things on my pc arent even a year old yet. I just built my pc last august. It has a gig of ram, and 250 hd and another 160 hd. I don't know what it may be. I always keep everything updated on it and run spyware and adware sweepers like every other day. I rarely turn it off though, just restart it like every 3 days. Who knows...

START - Control Panel - System - Advanced TAB - Performance SETTINGS - Advanced TAB - Virtual memory CHANGE - Custom size -. First set the size to 0 (zero). Defrag your hard drive and then go back to the settings and set Initial size to 1024 and the Maximum size to 4096 - SET - OK - OK - OK.

Try doing that and see what happens.. A lot of programs wont run without the right amount of page file, no matter how much RAM you have.. pagefile = virtual btw

Yeah, thanks anyways. But it doesn't do it often, just like every once in a while.

Virtual memory is just a simulation of RAM from your hard disk, it takes hard disk space as RAM.
