Okay, this is my first tutorial, so forgive me if it sucks ass.

    What you will need:
    Adobe Photoshop 7.0 or higher
A good set of grunge brushes.
A render you'd like to use in the sig
    Common knowledge of photoshop

Okay, first you will need to open a new document. I used 380x150, but you can use something else. After opening the new document, go to Filter>render>clouds. Then you should have something like this:

This is where the grunge brushing comes in to play. Whip out that gruge brush set and start brushing around. For this tut, I used Metal CX's Grunge N Rust set. With black selected, brush around on the white background, create a new layer ([IMG]) and create about 20 new layers. After your satisfied with your first layer of brushing, move onto the next, but with white selected. Do this for about 5-10 layers. Now you should be somewhere around here:
[IMG] (or something close to that)

Now, find a render. I used the God of War render below, but you can use whatever you want. http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/1264/renderfortut4hc.png

Open the render, resize so it fits onto your sig the way you want it, and set it to luminosity so it's gray like the rest of the sig. You should be with me around here:

Now, for the text part of the sig. This might be the most complicated part, but still not that hard. I used the font Ressurection for this and the pixelated font Visitor for the small font.
Select your text tool, type whatever you want your text to be and go to Layer>Layer style>Blending options Follow these settings for each step

after that, if you want sub-text, get out your pixelated font. again, I used Visitor for this tut. make sure anti-aliasing is set as none, as this is very important. if you set it to anything else, it will turn out blurry and ugly. set the text size to 8 or 9, it doesn't matter which. type whatever you want, go to Layer>layer settings>blending options. choose drop shadow, let the settings at default. choose stroke, set it to 1px and black.
then, you should have something like this:

now for color. create a new layer, or go to the next blank one you have. go to layer>new adjustment layer>color balance. I used these settings, but you can use different ones if you'd like

    Midtones: +27 0 -39
    Highlight: +34 0 -29
    Shadow: +44 0 -44

then on the same layer, add a set of clouds (filter>render>clouds)

create a new layer, create another color balance layer and use these settings or use your own

    Mindtones: +31 0 0
    Highlights: +31 0 0
    Shadow: +35 0 0

    add another set of clouds

then, create a new layer and add a final color balance layer. use these settings or use your own

    Mindtones: 0 0 -40
    Highlights: 0 0 -35
    Shadow: 0 0 -36
now, you can choose to add another set of clouds, or not. I didn't because I liked the color I had. you should be somewhere around...here:

w00h00! you're almost done. all's you need to do now is add the border. create a new and final layer, press ctrl+a to select the whole image. go to edit>stroke. put the width as 3px and color black. go to stroke again, width 2px and color white. then do stroke again, 1px and color black. make sure it's ALL IN THE SAME LAYER. after doing that, set the layer to overlay. viola! you've made a border and a complete sig.

    my final result: [IMG]
