I need more Gb for my computer but i dont wanna lose everything that i have on the current hd. So i was wondering if i can buy another hd and combine it with the current one. Im pretty sure i have 2 ide controllers(HD &Cd) and i no in the middle of the HD ribbon is a connector to plug sumtin in. Would it work if the added HD goes to that empty connector. And if thats the case, when i add the HD the Gbs will just be added? Ive heard about this but i really dont no anything lol
It is possible to have two hard drives. My old computer has two. Simple google search brought me this. http://www.perfectdrivers.com/howto/seconddrive.html
partition 8 will fully format your HDD so you wont have anything left at all just get another harddrive clip it in ,connect the wires and its as simple as that... youll need to format the new harddrive but thats just standard i recommend you take out your first HDD and put it back in once the format on the other HDD has finnished then make your 1st HDD your main HDD & the 2nd your Slave done...
Look the Paryionmagic just dosen't format , It also copys too. I've been working on PC for 13 years and that is what i do for a living. It will work!
Most computers have 2 IDE cables (and 2 ends on each cable; = 4 total IDE devices). What you can do is on the primary cable, set your current hard drive as the master and buy a new one and set that as slave. Or, put them both on Cable Select and make sure that the hard drive with the operating system is primary and the new hard drive is secondary. It can definitely be done, sometimes you just have to mess around with the jumpers and BIOS.
