EDIT: LIVE 8 IS TODAY! SIGN THE ONE DECLARATION TODAY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

    Hey guys,

As all you should have seen, theres a campaign, a very large one happening this year.

The aim is to stop poverty and preserve life.

Every 3 seconds, one child dies from aids. 8,500 people are infected with aids everyday. 30,000 children die each day, needlessly, of extreme poverty.

This is where you, the people come in.

"On July 6th, we finally have the opportunity to stop that shameful statistic.

8 world leaders, gathered in Scotland for the G8 summit, will be presented with a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair. If these 8 men agree, then we will become the generation that made poverty history."

Sign the declaration, millions have signed this already, actors, musicians, people like you or I.

Wear the wristband, and show that you care.

If you havent already signed it, then please do.

    Dingers

Edit: Thanks to all those who have taken the time and signed the declaration, found here http://www.one.org/ActionSignup.aspx

I just find it funny that they have Billionaires and Million-dollar-salary actors and actresses saying "Don't worry, we're not asking for your money." on the commercials.......Irony bleeds deep in this country.

Well what do you think, when you hear of this your thinking, oh they want me to sponsor a child, stuff that.

They just want to make it clear to the men at the G8 summit that the world backs this decision, they're spending their millions to help.

Unless you want to help too, dont bother posting.

The world has been trying to "fight" poverty and 3rd world situations for over 100 years. Poverty has and always will be a problem, until everyone is poor, and fending for themselves. This world has derived and placed itself so much upon money, that there's no way to devolve that aspect, and create a malleable and lasting solution to poverty. Thousands of attempts have failed- so beyond the major marketing of this one- what makes you think this one will?

I don't, but I do know it will be more likely to work if the worlds majority werent like yourself and stop questioning good. Whats it gonna cost you? NOTHING, so why not just sign the declaration and hope for the best?

So what you are saying is, "Why help when we can watch them die."
If people can help then they should help.
if i had a job I would gladly donate to the cause. Because I know even if I donate $20 it will be a $20 well spent and will go towards a good cause.

I'd sign it if I knew it would work. My skepticism is preventing me from doing so. By no means to I think that it's a bad idea- it's a great one, and I hope it works. I'm just trying to see the side of things that I always have, and poverty doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon. I commend you and all who sign it for your efforts though. ;)

i agree with maynards, our society has become built on the fact that there are the rich, poor, its impossible to eliminate poverty without everyone becoming poor.

however it doesnt mean we can just sit by and watch, if we even help one person in every million its worth it, im signing it.

DAMN DUDE......your thinking is Fu**** up. Even if they fail, at least during the process Your helping someone, of course not everyone, but maybe your saving some little kid's life. I' ain't trying to be mean or anything, but ya know......the least you can do is think positive for them.

I didn't blatantly say : DONT TRY THIS, IT'S A HORRIBLE IDEA- HOW ABOUT WE SIT AND LAUGH WHILE PEOPLE ARE BECOMING MORE POOR.

I stated my opinion. I don't think it will work- and I'll kick myself in the ass if it does. In no way did I say it was a stupid idea that shouldnt follow through.

The thing is that these people aren't really considered poor because where they live there is no currency in the form of money.
They use animals, food, clothes, etc to trade.
So you can't call them poor because they don't know what poor is.
Also how can you possibly say that the billionairs and millionairs don't donate money and don't care because most do.
it's just that living that lifestyle means that you need more money to support yourself and to them 1 million dollars is exactly what 10,000 is to us and thats alot of money.
