Well I recently got Photoshop, and for the first week I've had it it ran perfectly smooth. But a couple days ago I installed some new brush and text packs, and ever since my photoshop runs like crap. Everything is slow, and nothing ever registers right away. It's really annoying, because it makes projects not worth the effort. Anyways, any help is appreciated, if you think you know the problem....

Hmm.. Something taking up your memory? About the only thing that would slow down your photoshop in general is when it first starts up, where it has to load all the fonts/brushes. Check your processes to free up some memory. That's about the only thing I can tell you.

The only thing i could say is scan the brushes for viruses, and scan your computer for viruses/spy/adware.

FOr example if u have like 2000+ Fonts and like 3000 brushes -when it loads it has to load them first and when u use them it lags to death - I kno its frustrating coz same thing happens to me - It takes a while before it loads up smoothly or ur comp might not hav enuff memory(RAM) as PS might say :D

My photoshop loads a lot faster now that I moved all my brushes outta my presets folder. I kept only a few in there for quick access. But you can still use all your brushes w/o them in the presets folder.

Just click "replace brushes..." to load different brushes. ;)

    thanks for the replies!

well i have a gig of ram, so it's not that, and i still have plenty of space left on my computer.

however, i do have about 3000 fonts. but photoshop runs slow during use, even when i'm not working with text/fonts

well i just wanted to let anyone interested know that the system restore worked, and my photoshop is back to full capacity.

what i've learned is NEVER install font packs!

    i appreciate everyone's input, and i will +rep

edit: all involved in this topic have been +repped, except shoq, who I plus repped last night for something else, heh

Take away all the fonts you dont use regularaly, more than 500 will slow your pc. if you need to load another font outside of the fonts folder just open the font from a remote location and it will show up in font lists as long as its window is open.

Yeah I'd say get rid of the fonts you don't use and also scan your comp for viruses and the usual.
