Okay, both computers are dell, same kind etc... both run Windows XP with service pack 2. now, how do i set up the other computer's printer so i can acess it. Both of the computers are set up to my router, which is a linksys, and i have allowed the share files and printer option. but i still cant acess it. any ideas?!
Did you install the Drivers and Printer files on both computers? You need to use the disc that came with the printer.
yeh, its shared all the way. i said that before, but ummmm i just install the cd on the comp i using, so it'll work on the printer thats connected to the other?
Hmm. I dont know about printing from a computer that its not hooked up to. The only places i have seen this done is at businesses. Never at a home computer. Sorry cant help you. Good luck ^_^
What ya need is called a mapped network drive. Are you able to view the contents of both computers from just one computer? If so, ya know that at least the network is already about 90% configured to access the printer. All you need to do is make sure you have the correct drivers installed on both machines, then configure them to the printer in the control panel. It may help to switch to classic view.
