I've been wondering this for awhile, when you use a render... do you actually know where it's from, like which video game/anime? or did you just pick it because it looks cool. With me, I know where my renders come from, and I usually do them depending on how much I've had of each. For example, I've been watching the Naruto anime, so I decided to make a Sasuke sig (left) also, I've been replaying Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, and I decided to make one based on the main character.
I usually know where they come from whether it be anime, video games, music. On rare occasions, I'll just find a random pick I like and cut it out, like what I did with one of my currents.
I can usually tell where they came from 80% of the time, because I am not too strong in the anime field :-\
I am a bit older than most, so I am not "hip" to all of the new games out. I choose most of my renders based on the theme of the sig, and the renderer. I have a crap load of renders but tend to choose from a few of the render packs from *Blood*,Dr!ver, and some from Jesse_boi89.
I used renders that are like given on this site but I have never attempt to create my own because I don't know how to.
