My laptop is 3 times as powerful as my desktop, and cost less....

I have a 100gig hard drive, geforce4mx4400 64mb, and an amd athlon64. Compared to my Desktop, that blows it out of the water. Not to mention I can run doom3 and HL2 simultaneously without problems if I want to. Laptops can be great, but high-end desktops are usually better in that regard. I love mine- gaming and designing on the go. [/b][/quote]
What kind of laptop do you have?

It's an upgraded HP pavillion zv5000, with a 17" widescreen LCD. They have the stock ones at most Best Buys now.

Ah, yea, I'm getting a new laptop in a couple of days and HP was one of the ones I was looking at and I did see that zv5000, altho it didn't exactly suit my needs. Nice looking machine tho.

EDIT: Anybody know if Gateway computers/laptops are any good as opposed to HP and Dell?

It all depends on your budget. You can usually get a better Desktop PC for less than your could a Laptop. Do alot more researcch before you spend money. :D

I know that you can get a helluva lot more for your money with a desktop than a laptop but in my case, a desktop computer isn't practical, that's why I've been looking at notebooks instead. Not to mention I've been researching this stuff for quite some time and narrowed it down to the one that I wanted until I realized I'd forgotten about Gateway, which is why I asked.

Gateway computers aren't bad but, like Dell, their computers come with alot of useless software. CHEAP TOO!
