Two days ago, I went to turn on my compaq laptop, and when it was booting up, a message with something saying like "Windows has encountered a problem while trying to startup blahblahblah". Then it gave some options: 1) Last known good configuration(your most recent settings that worked). 2) Start Windows up normally. When I tried both of these options, Windows would be booting up, but then shut down and would start back up. Then the message would come back up. So then my bro(who is dam smart in computers) had to delete my Windows XP Home Edition and install Windows XP Professional(the illegal version lol), as this was the only solution to the problem. Have any of you heard of a problem like this before? Just curious.
yeah i had that problem a few weeks ago it was cause a virus got on my comp and messed the services up so that none of them would activate.....meaning that it wouldn't boot correctly......so i reformatted and reinstalled
Yea, re-installing is probably the only solution, besides taking it to a computer technician and let him work at it.
HEheehe, hit f8 before it gets to the option screen your're seeing. Start in safe-mode or by command line. Then run your antivirus and make sure it is up-to-date. This would have been a better solution than re-installing windows and losing all your stuff.
