Did Elvis Scream? No Rock isn't all about screaming, Heavy rock isn't all about screaming. In fact no music is all about screaming, not even metal, SOME metal bands just happen to scream and I just happen to think that this is a terrible form of music. Lets take for example System Of a Down, their choruses sound fine sometimes, nice catchy riffs, good singing but all of a sudden it is totally ruined by horrific screaming and fast drumlines with overuse of the snare (trust me to point that out, I'm a drummer). Rock? Screaming? You won't find ONE Rock song with somebody screaming. You'll find some metal ones like it though. Let's take for example some rock: Led Zeppelin: Screaming? No Def Leppard: Screaming? No Lynyrd Skynryd: Screaming? No I could do that forever but I'll spare the boring to death of my droning. DON'T THINK HOWEVER that I have finished rambling Please, take the time to listen to some classic rock and tell me then taht there is screaming in it. Some people may get the impression that I think screaming is okay, It's not it sucks, and I totally agree with you on the screaming and shouting part of things. I cant stand it when bands/vocalists do it. I wish they wouldn't. Now I don't like alot of rap such as 50 cent, In my opinion it irritates me. It does take talent to rap, I know, but I prefer it when people sing instead of talk in rythem. Just my 2 cents.
i like led zep, black sabbath, anthrax, death, slayer, and some others... but more modern bands i like are slipknot, mushroomhead, billy talent, alexisonfire, system of a down!!
i cant stand rap...its the same thing over and over...it pisses me off...so im voting for classic rock...the new stuff is ----ty...Jimi Hendrix the guitar god...acdc...led zep...sabbath...rush...deep purple...bob dylan...pink floyd...the doors...greatful dead...i could go on for ages...classic rock > Rap and all other music

I could probably say the same thing about most Rap. I'm not fond of the Rap artists that always talk about sex, drugs, and money, but I know not all Rap artists are like that so I don't stereotype them. Not all Rock is the same, just like DJM stated, and there are a lot of Heavy Metal bands that aren't always the same. There are many different genres of Heavy Metal.
