Ok i was at this graphics site and posted my renders for people to use in their show off section.
I come back like 2 days later and I have a warning for stealing another artists work.
I come to find out that apparently Rendering means a total different thing and only that one thing:
" A render is an image that you model in a 3D program, such as 3D Studio Max, then add texture, lighting and depth to to create a final realistic looking image. Unless you've done ALL of that, you did not "render" this... "

" Now whether you meant to or not, what you have done there is classified as stealing, just like taking items from a shop without paying. Do not let us catch you doing this again. "

Hmm one of the things I find funny is that when companies release their pictures of the games they usually don't copyright them that way people can use them. That image wasn'tcopyrighted yet they still said i stole it even though I never said that it was mine.

They're talking about rendering as in 3D rendering. Dunno why we call cut-outs renders. o_O

When companies release images they ARE copyrighted, or people like yourself that "render" them could go off selling their work.

As far as wherever you posted, I wanna go there whats the link? They seem like a more mature bunch that doesn't consider sigs as actual art.

I always took rendering as 3d models it wasnt untill someone on my graphics team told me about another render sight that i know it of what this sight is for.

Eh.. you should just be more aware of where you are.

YEah I would like the site also, and to the guy who posted this thread YOU ARE THE MORON because "rendering" means

The verb to render has a number of meanings: *As used in computer rendering. To interpret, to give an interpretation or rendition of; to calculate an image. Often used in connection with computer graphics or 3D computer graphics to describe the process of producing an image in the digital realm by using a description of objects, lights illuminating those objects, and cameras viewing them - all depicted within an imaginary scene. The passage of light through that scene and its interaction with th

Because you did not make the image and just cut it -out doesnt mean its a render, some stupid ass said it was a render so now everyones calling them renders, and mostly the sig communities call them renders and it is INFACT illegal to just cut out something of the picture and post it as your work, now youre gonna say "But Im not saying I made it I just cut it out" well its the same ---- youre still stealing from the owner, do you think the owner wants to see his art vandalised on some crappy gfx site? NO! Thats why I quit cutting-out images a looong time ago! Let me see you argue with that!

I have also learned render to be create something in the 3D world, but after learning sigs and seeing how much a process that is, i can see why they can be both called renders, to me a render is something that you created....either all of ur own, or partial work of others too..i mean why not?

Looks good You guys have great sigs and a nice forum here

Apparently you guys missed the letter one of the mods wrote to gamewallpapers and some of the gaming companies asking about the use of "renders" on this and other sites. The extent of the letter was asking about copyrights, and whether or not it is ok to be using images that gaming companies made. Most of the comapnies replied......so long as they are non-commission, it is not illegal to use the images. H3ll, it's free advertising for them. Why would they care about that? So, in other words...don't try selling something with their images on it at a monetary value. Forum credits are meaningless to them, they could care less if you make 100,000,000 forum credits off a gaming image, not like its costing them anything or making them miss out on something.

    Ok the site is
    http://ssdesigns.proboards17.com

I never did any 3d work so i never knew what rendering actually means. Alot of people I know said rendering is cutting out the image so i just went with that.

If you search in any one of my posts where I posted one of my cut outs I did not say, " look at the render I made. " but in fact I said
    " I rendered this "
Meaning in the second definition of rendering which people define as cutting out an image.

TO: high_till_i_die696: This is a Gaming Renders site. What you just told me pretty much applies to half of this sites members.
