Not necessarily. PS3's BD-Discs are actually up to 52gbs, and how does that make the system any better? Oh, it can store more data? What games are gonna ride up to even 20gbs of data on one disc? HL2 was only 4gbs, so chill out. Xbox360 has a similar processor. Both are IBM Power5 PC processors. Both are clocked at 3.2ghz (not really big deal, since PPCs are awesome to begin with). The XBO60's processor has 3 identical cores, all running at 3.2ghz. i.e. if you gave it a job to run, it would (like a parallel computer (that Windows, despite its flaws, was VERY capable of doing well)) split the task evenly among processors, then regroup and display. The PS3 has a single scalar processor clocked at 3.2ghz and then seven SPUs (vector processing units), devoted to mathematical calculations. If the PS3 is devoting processors... it could get messy. Not every one would always be fully utilized, and whereas the PS3 could push 2 teraflops on a good day, it seems it would be consistently UNDERrunning the XBox 360 if it did such a thing. Also, the PS3s RSX GPU isn't all that better than the XBO60s GPU. Sony said that the RSX is twice as good as the 6800. So let's say there are 24 pipelines on it. Also, it's clocked in at 550mhz while XBO60 is at 500mhz. Microsoft claims that their ATi GPU has 48-pipelines. I don't know if it is 48 individual pipelines or two pairs of 24 pipelines running in parallel (like when nintendo tricked everyone into thinking N64 was 64bit, when it was just 2 32bits running in parallel). I'm not gonna go into the other specs right now cause I'm too bored, but all I have to say is the games are gonna make the systems. XBOX has HALO and many other titles ("omgomg Im like t3h tot4lly obsessed...GO CHIEFMAN!!!11") and PS3 has metal gear solid 4 and many other titles. It all depends on what games you like better. XBO60 has some things better than the PS3 while the PS3 has some things better than the XBO60. For me, I don't really care.
Son has sucky versions of the splinter cell games, for all you spec happy fanboys, have you see tne graphics for chaos theory on the ps2? Compare it to xbox. Chronicles of riddick, another one of the best looking games released on current gen consoles and guess what system its on. As far as tekken being better then DOA, not hardly, theres no comparison, I will however admit that virtua fighter 4 evolution is the best fighting game IMO to be relased on any platform.
Ok, we are comparing PS3 and XBO60...let's not start comparing a 5 year old console with a 3 year old console. Check my post above for the whole specs thing^
All you can compare is numbers and opinions, the consoles aren't released, so theres no point in debating about those.
HALO SUCKS. HALO IS HYPE. Yeah, I said it, don't even bitch. Right now, Xbox360 seems like a load of hype to me. I chuckled when I saw some of the game previews they showed at E3. They honestly looked like the same old Xbox graphics, with more enemies on screen. PS3's images on the other hand had me thinking otherwise. I won't say which one has better graphics as of yet, because we won't find out until the games come out. All of you bitching about how Sony "has no good games" compared to Xbox, get your head out of your ass. Sony and the Playstation franchise are at the moment, the dominating system. PS2 has more than 3 times as many games as Xbox worldwide- you have to practically pull a magic trick to sell an Xbox in Japan as is- which is the leading video game country in the world. Simple fact. PS3's specs next to the 360's have a marginal advantage, but that will have to be proven when the games actually come out. Quit bitching so much about which system is better than which, when they're still MONTHS away from release. Fanboy-ism rides heavy here...
Chill it Maynard. I'm sure every one of those companies is exaggerating about their product. But of the 3, Xbox 360 looks like it will deliver the most on its claims. Also, yes, Halo does SUCK. The big one. But you cannot argue with Perfect Dark.
my personal choice is ps3, since i've loved sony since the Ps1. Not tos ay the xbox 360 is terrible, in fact, if i were an online play junkie, i would much rather prefer to get an xbox, even if the ps3 has something like Live, it wont be as good. But since I'm a little old fashioned i don't use consoles as an online port, i use my computer. that's what they're for. If you look at the progression of consoles, all they really are at the core is jsut a computer for your TV to play games on. Sony is leaning a little more to becoming a computer, with all the multimedia stuff, not that it's bad, i love it. I got a PSP and it owns. After Gamecube, i honestly dont think nintendo will ever live up to what it used to be. They used to be so awesome... What I REALLLY want to see, is for Sega jsut to come out of ----ing nowhere with a system that blows the ---t outta all of them, and will rule the gaming universe once again!!! BAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! oh...sorry. My first game console was a Sega Genesis, which was absolutely awesome at the time, and i still adore sega today. even if the dreamcast sucked, at least they tried.
also note taht i would love to get an xbox just for the new conker game! gunna be awwweeesooome. but i dont buy systems for jsut one game, even if it is awesome. i wish conker could come to ps2/ps3. oh well.
True. If I want great graphics and gameplay, I play PC. If I want great gameplay, RPGs, and decent graphics, I play PS2. Not Xbox. Xbox has huge, chunky controllers, nice graphics, but no good games. Halo sucks. Single player has no story line. In multiplayer all you do is pick up laser guns and go around shooting each other until somebody dies. No strategy whatsoever. Halo 3 will be the same with maybe better graphics. And I think the PS3 controller looks pretty cool, I still like the old one better. At least Microsoft could try changing their controllers' big, bulky design.

[/b][/quote] lol @ rotting, its me dream  Sorry to break your heart little buddy, but Halo is by far the best multiplayer console game. The story in the first one was great, you know it was, you sony fanboys are just to ignorant to admit when your wrong, story in the 2nd was a let down, but multiplayer made up for it. Let's face it people, no matter how much you cry, whine and bitch, Halo still sold more games then any other console game.
