Well, I'm getting a new laptop and I need some advice. I've narrowed the choices in brand down to Dell or HP. Thing is, I don't know which one to go with. That's why I'd like some opinions. Some other things I'd like help with:

Processor Speed (an average of what's good. Something that's fast enough so I'm not sitting here all day waiting but not uber-expensive either)
Memory: 512MB or 1GB (obviously 1GB is more but would i notice the difference, etc.)
Hard Drive: 60GB, 80GB etc. (more, less, this all factors into how much I spend on what part of the computer)

I'm not a big gamer person (not much into the CS etc. kinda stuff). Pretty much what I'm planning to use this laptop for is taking to classes, watching some movies, prbly running a couple graphics programs like PS and C4D, and some less graphics-oriented games. Stuff like that. Any advice and help I can get at all would be great. Thanks :)

I voted Dell. cause last i heard all HP computers Recovery CD's are just a partition on the hard drive..

But don't like Dell because i've heard bad things about their customer service... then again who calls customer service lol.

For CPU I'd go with something 2.5 ghz and up.
Memory i would definenlty go up to 1 gig. it helps out a lot (photoshop loading time.. boot time, etc..)
Hard drive is personal prefrence. what do you use your computer for? what is your current size of your hard drive and how often do you hit over 75% of that drive.. etc..

Well, this piece of crap I'm using now is a 60GB HD with 24.6GB left (this fluctuates tho as I have quite a few movies on my computer so it can go back up to around 28GB if I delete most of them). But with this new laptop, as I said, I really only plan on using it for classes, watching some movies (not storing them on the hard drive if I can help it), graphics, and some smaller games, nothing big like what I mentioned before.

Also, is there any way to find out if the fan will be loud as hell (cuz this laptop I'm on now can get very loud) or not?

Dell definetely, dell is the best brand, altho custom mades are the best but that applys to desktops really.

Processor: Anything over 2ghz is decent
RAM: go for 1gb, u will notice a difference
    Hardrive: bigger the better.

Well, between Dell and HP, I would have to say HP. Dell loads a ton of crap programs like Computer Training and all that other junk.

I would also go with something above 2.8 Gigs, 1 GB RAM (C4D, you will notice a difference) and an 80 gig hard drive. I've had my computer for about 3 years :-)P) and I'm just about halfway of my 80 gigs.
