In this tutorial we’ll be changing this: into this: first, you’ll have to cut the cell phone out of its habitat. Do what you will to achieve this, it’s not my prerogative to explain that one to you. Next, we’ll take care of the text on the bottom of the phone where we’ll be placing our little tag. Using the clone stamp tool and source points (alt+click to create a source point) we’ll take care of the text. Then, insert your tag on a white font, I used times new roman, and lower the opacity to 50%. Now we’ll be placing the subliminal message 1337 into the cell phone’s buttons. Because that’s how us uber 1337sauce photo manipz0rs bitches do things. We’ll be using the source points to achieve this. Firstly, clone out the 4. elites don’t need the number 4. Use the magic wand tool to select the number 3, ctrl+c to copy, and ctrl+v to paste it as its own layer. We’ll move that new layer to where the 4 used to be. Now, we use the magic wand tool and the methods above to extract and duplicate the 7. move that off to the side, but don’t forget about it. Clone out the number 7 on its own button, and then duplicate our extracted 3 and move that to where the 7 once was. Finally, clone out the asterisk and move the 7 we extracted earlier to where the asterisk once was. Here is where the fun part comes in, now that all the stupid stuff has been accomplished. Using the pen tool with these modifiers selected and draw in a little box that fits nicely into where the cell phone display screen is. Now that’s done, we’ll move over to our paths tab found on the layers pallete and right click on the “work path” and click on make selection. Use the default settings for that. voila, we have our ants marching along the selection. Use ctrl+alt+shift+n to create a new layer and brush around, have fun. I used a star brush pack, which was obvious and a half. Remember to never deselect, so our brushing is contained within its proper place. Once that’s finished, we’ll be using adjustment layers to have fun and spice up our brushing (we damn well better have our selection area still selected) now, each time you add an adjustment layer, you’ll lose your selection! Oh no! dear god ep0ch what do I do now? Simply ctrl+click on the adjustment layer to regain the selection. What happens when you add an adjustment layer when you have an area selected is that the adjustment layer auto-masks out what isn’t selected, isolating the adjustment. It’s a good thing. Use whatever adjustment settings you want, but make sure you use all 4 of the layers, and it’ll really spice things up. Now, we’ll regain our selection after using the adjustment layers, and press ctrl+alt+shift+n to make a new layer ON TOP of the adjustment layers and brushing layer/layers. With this selection we’ll go to edit>stroke and use a 1px black stroke. After that, we’ll right click on the 1px black stroke layer and go to blending options and use an outer glow of black set to dark blending. This will help to blend in our brushing a bit. Now go back to the layer that is the entire phone, which should be at the bottom of your stack, and go to the blending options and do a black outer glow and inner glow of both dark blending. This just adds some spice, ya’know? BAM! Duplicate the phone layer, take off the layer effects, and go to filter>blur>Gaussian blur and use like 2 and then set the layer’s blending mode to soft light. This’ll make the phone more vivid and a lot less dull. Well, that’s the tutorial. Love me long time if you use it.
