remember in 2002 when worm virus came out and it spreaded thru comps like wild fire?it was because it was spreading thru contact lists.im not sure if its true or not but its just a precaution

How does a virus spread through contact list? I can understand getting a email, but not contact list. And about what happened in 2002, thats when computers were dinosaurs, and you could get viruses from everything.

God people like you are gullible, no offense.

The big virus in 2002 was by retards accepting .exe files with strange names that were sent to them over MSN automatically without the sender knowing.

You CANNOT get a virus adding an email to your contacts.

Anybody with the simplest knowledge of IT could understand this.

You can't get a virus from accepting their invitation, maybe accepted a file, but thats a bout it...

You guys all act like you've never heard of IM viruses...sheesh. No, you will not GET the virus by adding the contact to your list. BUT, the contact will send IM's to everyone on your list, and some of them might be [stupid] enough to download it. Haven't you seen the AIM virus that sends you a message that says something like "Look what I found! Click here!" And then you go there and a virus self-downloads using an ActiveX script or something.

Solution : Get Firefox. It automatically disables all ActiveX scripts unless you say so.
