ay has anyone here read the book "The Giver"? i need help on some questions! i'll give the person 250 creds if they can give me the answers!
It is about a utopia right? And this child tries to break out of it, and explore the rest of the world, but at the end their are sliding down a hill, and she says something like "I thought I heard a noise/saw lights, we'll see..."?
Well it's about a kid very strange society. The elders* I think* assign jobs to people, colorblind the people, familys are chosen right? and there pretty much trying to block out crime. There is also this one and only one dude that has the memories of war and beautiful things and crap like that right? is that the same book were talking about? ohh and i remember the term "released" in that book meant killed.
Why did Jonas' society decide precision of language was necessary? Why do the children all drewss the same and have the same things at the same age? Why are jobs and mates chosen for the people. Why did they remove animals? Why did the people need to tell their dreams and their feelings? Why are people not allowed to tell lies? Why did the people need a receiver? What REALLY happens at the end of the story? What do you think changes for the people in Jonas's community once he is gone? What is the message or theme of this book? Is "Sameness" an ideal we shold all work towards? There are groups of people in this country who believe anyone who is different should leave or be "gotten rid of". Why would reading this book be a good lesson for them? ^^^whoever can answer the most of these for me will get 250 creds!
1. so it wouldnt have expressions in it. 2. So nobody get;s jealous. So nobody is overspoiled, and to ensure that all people are treated equally. 3. so nobody is left unemployed, and every job is taken care of 4. 5. so they could forget them 6. 7. because somebody has to hold all of the memories of the past. and to give wisdom to the present and say what not to do, to prevent bad things from happening again. 8. 9.i think that there utopian life will go on, and his death won't mean much, because hes really not his fathers and mothers child, he was appointed to them. nobody had feelings for him, because they toook pills to prevent it. 10. THat everybody is unique and should not be controlled by another. 11. no its not, every1 is unique. 12. it shows the moral issues of what they r doing. what i no from memory of 3 years ago
Well then. You pretty much did all the ones that I remembered Titan. So I won't bother posting the ones that I dont.
never thought i would ever see a thread about this book in all the communitys ive been in. well, i had to read this for school (9th grade ) and i found it to be the only good book all year. it held my atention and made me wonder the entire way. my sugestion: pick up a movie called "the henry truman show" and watch it. its not based on the giver but the concept of the movie is really close to the book. and you will like it.
