Processor What Should I Go With?

If money is no problem, get the FX55, nothing else comes close in a desktop pc

look, if you think ahead any socket 939 processer made by AMD will be good, the dual core processors will be coming out soon, and they will be backwards compatable with the 939 motherboards. Intel is not doing this, you have to buy a whole new motherboard to get thier dual core processors.

Also, the ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe motherboard is what i have and I love that thing to death. It has 2 PCI-Express slots so i can run dual 6800 Ultras using the "SLI" interface. Ill post links to it later. Hope this helps.

Arn't 939 sockets going obsolete?, orwas it the 754 sockets, i'm getting ti confused probably

 

$5200 for a "good" computer? you could get a KICKASS computer for that price

 

Its the 754 becuase 939 is top of the line. Yeah, so far i have 3000 into my comp, its almost done. But dude, 5000 will get you some crazy stuff.

Do not buy a pentium... Athlon64 FX55 is a kickass processor and if you wanna push it eve further, get watercooling and overclock it

 

Yeah, definately go with AMD for graphical excellence. If you just want a fast computer for like video editing, use an Intel processor. Gamingwise, AMD pwns.

as for me if I were you and I wanted the best processor on the market, wait a few months until the AMD FX 57 comes out, that thing is made for over clocking, better materials for cooling

as for the claim that intels run cooler, that is false, they run hotter. They do have a safety of shutting of if they get too hot, something which AMD doesn't have because in general it is damn neer impossible to get an AMD that hot. you want an answer, if you over clock to hell and beyond an AMD can get hotter than a pentium because the pentium will shut off, but as long as you are running adequate cooling you should never have to worry, not to mention the fact that in general AMD 64/FX cost alot les for equivilent performance.

 

I agree with Ultra Maniac. The AMD Athlon 64 can run hot, but it can also keep it cool since the processor comes with the Cool 'n' Quiet technology.
