Well i was thinking about something. . . well about a month or more ago i encounter a problem i wanted to change my name from twiisted_kaos1 to twiisted kaos since that's my name i use everywhere else but it had been taken but the person had been inactive. So my suggestion was maybe if you can take maybe a day or two maybe even a weekend and go throught the member database and delete all inactive account so other people may use that nameor maybe i guess free some space up on your server or some crap. . . just an idea please dont flame :P

Its a good Idea. I hate those people who will take one name and then register any name close to it just so they will be more unique. I am so for that idea.

Well I didnt have the same problem as some of the rest of you, But I do think it is a good idea to clean out the inactive people. On the other hand, do you want to delete a user account because of inactivity? If so, is there a limit of time to their inactivity that should be addressed, 1 week 2 months, 1 year? Where does it start and we know the ending part. I think an e-mail should be sent to their e-mail on file (needed it to register) and if you get no response in a week or two, then remove the user. BUt at least give them a chance to respond, maybe they forgot their username and password after finals week in school or something.

I think it is a good idea, but I think it would take longer than you are thinking it will take to clear out the names.

If you have a name that you would like to use, but it is taken and the user that has it is inactive (e.g he/she has 0 posts), then you are more than welcome to PM me to get it freed up.

I will be able to do this for free, if of course the username you want to change to is similar to your old one (e.g {DE}Vortex to Vortex) and is currently taken up by an inactive member.

This means that present members should not be affected by inactive members using up their usernames.

For people who have just registered, then they always have the option of PMing me later on after they register.

I agree and Ll i think you should send out an email when they register and i know it'll take more than a couple of days. . . maybe if you can send and automated email out to all users and who don't respond within a week or two you should delete the account . .

This already happens - if people do not click the link in their activation email within 10 days then their account gets automatically deleted and their username gets freed up again :)
