    Hey GR forum!

I see some old lads still kicking on the site. Shaggy, Madmav, Kovan, Majin, Zohair, xlink...

What are you up to now?

Update on myself, after the game renders decline, I freelance graphic designed for about 5 years until I was mid way through college. Made a good chunk of change in that time as a high schooler and honestly I owe it to this community. I was only 12 when I first joined GR (holy shit!). I studied compsci and worked jobs as a software engineer ever since. I’m working at a startup as a software engineer and also running an event planning startup myself.

It would be interesting to see how far we’ve come!

Good to see you again nanSTA! Another old nostalgic name on here! Glad to hear you're well and things sound like they're going great for you since this place died off!

Id never taken graphic design too seriously back then, and it was more just something to do to interact with others in a social way before social media. I gave it up, studied to be an electrical engineer. Decided it wasn't for me and went trained to be a car mechanic. Did that for about 5years, got made redundant and ended up giving that up too. Now i work part time in retail, and I'm just a boring ass 30 year old Dad with two kids!

It really is mad to reflect back and think I joined this site 15 years ago now!

Yea, it's insane how much time has passed. Gone through many diff chapters in my life since the crazy days of a 15 year old on the internet..

..I went from retail, to landscaping to Product Owner for an ecommerce platform!

Use more Lightroom than Photoshop these days..would love to brush back up on the graphic design side of things, my mates ask how I learned photoshop....'well i was on this forum back in 2005 and some weird shit went down'

After GR decline, I never really continued in graphic design but started a website in 2012 and then became a League of Legends coach. After that crazy stint, I ended up moving into esports operations and currently work on Call of Duty League.

PS. Majin, I still use the Steam account (majinstalin) that I bought from you back in 2005 as my main steam account.

I'm now a Principal Database Architect (~Director level, for individual contributors) for a fortune 100 company. Took a long time to figure out what I was doing and where I'd end up. After taking off from GR administration and mostly moving away from the site, I ended up being an Interior Design Engineer for cabin sized aircrafts (private jets - mocking up interiors for custom builds) and when that company went out of business I moved to AZ and jumped around between a lot of jobs until I ended up being a Manager of QA for Symantec (Norton Antivirus). I got bored of working with overseas employees and left for another company where I ultimately became a Business Development Manager. In that role I negotiated contracts on behalf of my company with major store fronts (Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, etc.) and established an online presence in marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Rakuten, Sears, etc. After all of that, I left AZ to come back to CO and joined my current company.

Still not married, still no kids. Not sure I'll bother with either, if I'm honest. Never bothered with PS or any graphic design after I left GameRenders.

    Wow what happened to GR?

Been gone like 10+ years from this, pretty much just moved around a lot and got into a few different thing's.

I'm really curious as to why it dried up.

I actually came it to see what ppl were doing with sigs and stuff being 10 years later, to see what's changed.

If people are like me, really embarrassed to login and see the toxic things you said as a kid. xD

Currently I'm a software engineer. Made a 'shop at work today and people were asking how I picked up Photoshop and it made me nostalgic for GR.

Sounds about right. Likewise, I've gone down the waffley Product Owner / Functional Analyst route. All grown up and loving life.

Doing archeology here, it seems like there was talk about expanding this into a more general graphic design forum. Anything every happen with that?

I miss forums so much. They're the mom 'n' pop to Reddit and Twitter's Walmart. Small enough you can actually know people.

The relationships I formed on here with some people I reflect back on with happy memories. I met 4 other users in person, became really good friends with two especially, and became roommates with one of them. Sadly don't have contact with any of them anymore, but this was 9-12years ago!

I genuinely wouldn't mind getting in touch with old faces if they're lurking still like me and Mav!

Tnuckvirp especially dude if you by chance ever see this, where the **** did you go Daz?!?
