I don't like the newer versions of vb. I do plan on looking for a better gallery add on. PM me your ideas when you get a chance.
I had my old account here from 2005. Created a new one because I forgot the password. Anyways, my suggestion is to attract the younger crowds. When I was around 15, I wanted to learn PS and loved graphic design. THat's why I came here. Now in uni, work etc.. it's harder to do stuff for a hobby. I still use PS but only when I need it, not for fun. Basically, we grew up. Get a new younger crowd. Edit: My old account http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/member.php?u=10018 If you can, please email me on how to reset the password.
i've always thought this was a great site.. but you need to update with the times a little bit.. Just add new Tutorials, make the arcade live again and just keep challenging people.. show activity and have everyone that cares try to spread the word about game renders being back !! maybe change the whole lay out and just consider it a "re-opening" so to speak lol.. i don't know how many people still do graphics design but i haven't in years but i would love to start up again if this page comes back to life. I Learned Alot Through "Game Renders Community"
I use to love this site so much! It was all about awesome renders, and signatures. Granted, certain signatures became fads, while some stuck around forever. It was a borderline fashion show! The great part was that almost any level of photoshop user was welcome here. When you didn't know how to make a signature, there was a whole community of people creating tutorials on your favourite sigs to help you learn and let you join in as well. People always gave "gifts" to each other, you gained +rep for being helpful and there was always a weekly 'Sig Contest' that would use a stock render from one of the posts in the 'Premium Renders' section. Or just a basic theme of what the sig should be focused on. I never cared about winning the contest, it was just fun to create graphics! I do remember the whole Credits thing, but I never ever used them. I use to create renders in the Premium section daily for people to use. I didn't care about credits, or the rep. I just did it because I enjoyed doing it. Other members would link me their signatures using renders I posted, and that was gratifying enough. It wasn't about making it a 'business-type' website/community (although I know it was for some members). It was that it became an actual community of people sharing the same interest and creativity, while helping each other out. It would take you from that beginner level, to at least an intermediate. I think mIRC helped a lot for me as well. I didn't have all the time to continuously search through the forums looking for recent posts. I would be on Photoshop and just pop into mIRC for real-time chatting with other members. It seemed the mIRC users were more of the active members, and it definitely provided an easier and better way for people to meet each other. The forums are great, but mIRC is where I definitely made most of my "closer" GR friends. But the problem now is that the signature community is extremely scarce throughout the internet now. People rarely use signatures as most of them aren't even allowed on websites anymore. But, people still use Photoshop, and I'm sure people just enjoy creating things in Photoshop regardless of what it's for. When I need a bit of inspiration or some ideas for Photoshop images, I still venture to these forums to look through the tutorials. Just to see if anything can spark an idea or teach me something new. I still think this site can be quite decent. It just needs an active staff providing things for the community to do and look forward to doing. I know it's hard to have dedicated people like that nowadays, especially if you're doing it voluntarily. But, the reason I first embarked on GameRenders was simply to look at, Game Renders. Once here, I checked out the forums and saw all the posts on Photoshop Tutorials and the pages and pages of renders. I began using Photoshop BECAUSE of this website, and even though I took a long break from it. I am currently using it again and forgot how much I use to love it. Photoshop and graphics will always be a big part of today’s age. There’s no reason this site can’t still provide basic, common and advanced knowledge of Photoshop skills if that’s what you would like to focus on. I do still search for websites that can provide Photoshop tutorials, and always compare them to GR. They aren’t even close to the quality and detail that many of the GR users would put in to their creations. You would hope the community would want to do it, just because they enjoy doing it. But nowadays people need a reason to do something in order to get motivated. Providing users with “Credits” or something that can separate them from other users is what I found motivated most people. This post isn’t necessarily a list of ideas that you should attempt, but more-so what I noticed in my days when this site was very active. What I enjoyed the most, isn’t going to be the same thing that another user enjoys the most. Also, a big HI! to any users that remember me and it is nice to see such a decent response from the community email sent out.
Oh hi there dinges, sure has been a while. Flevoland is still boring as always, lol. Where do you live again? I thought either Drenthe or Brabant but I'm not too sure.
Brabant indeed, mostly cold atm who let you out of your cage? Also didn't lLama post earlier this week?
It think the whole idea of adding a gaming section would help a lot!, with this mass mailing tho you see there are plenty of people who want GR up and running again, i for one would love to see it be active again like before Also HEY! lol
