I want your opinions on how to get GR back to life. I know some of you will say let GR die, but I won't. I want it to active again. Will it be active as it was in the past, probably not, but I want to get it active enough where its a forum users have reason to come back for each day.

Post up ideas(besides closing down or getting rid of me :) ). I am not sure if rendering is something that is done alot still. I am more then happy to change up the site pace with making it a all video game forum, where we talk about games. Give me some ideas! I am all ears.

Not a bad idea. Want to be the first to share it. :D

Also find a better attachment plugin for the forums. Make images display in full res on the first post of a thread, so that we don't have to click it to open it.

You mean bigger attachments? Also, what did you have in your sig that was causing loading issues. I removed it btw, please don't add it in again.

    ...

It was simply a signature I made in 2004; the host I had it on is no longer with us.

    No, not bigger attachments.

Also, disallow flash in signatures. Set a maximum resolution size for signature images. A maximum line amount as well for text.

IMO there needs to be a new focus for the site. With the move from forums to social media and sites such as reddit, there isn't much of a "market" for the signatures thatthis site always focussed on. Nobody needed/started signatures so no new members, the old members (including myself) grew older, shifted interests and generally just don't have as much time as 5 years ago...

So give people a reason to come to this site again. Find something to focus on. Be it some form of GFX like in the old days or something completely new, just as long as it's something that people still use and need (so yeah, renders... not so much I'm afraid)

edit: Also what the balls Shaggy? I thought you had died a long time ago

Maybe turn this forum into a pinterest type site but for signatures. Or instagram type.

    Something more social.

Good ideas. Would an all video game forum work or is there to many out there already?

..No. Don't make this an all video game forum. Keep it inline with signatures, graphics, photoshop. Keep the topic the same.

Seems to be a topic that's not popular anymore though. I am all about keeping it the same, if it allows the forum to still be active.

I think this pretty much hit the nail on the head.

You have to appeal to young people, ages 12-15. That's when I came to this site, at least.

I don't think forums in general are popular anymore. It's all social on FB Twitter etc. As a result, no one needs signatures anymore.

I guess there are lots and lots of those already (to be honest I don't stray off of 4chan and reddit much these days so I might be wrong on this), and one of the great things about GR has always been the whole mix between gaming and photoshop. This place is probably the main reason I'm currently still working in graphic design.

I don't know it's a pretty tough question. There's still plenty of overlap between gfx and gaming, but not as much as there used to be. Depending on the userbase you might be able to set up a learning system or something? A starting place for people that like games and also want to learn grahpic design or something related. Something that is more accesible than PSD+TUTS, but more focussed on learning than your average gfx/gaming site.

Finding people with experience (and the time/energy) to get this going might be the hardest part, but there usually are people that like sharing their knowledge, look at stuff like UniversityofReddit for example.

If you can get something like that going, GR might survive
