I have an SLI Asus motherboard, with an Nvidia 7600 graphics card.

I want to try SLI, but don’t have a lot of money, so I went on eBay and found someone selling 2 Nvidia 8500GT’s which look like I could pick both up for $40 or less:

How much faster would the two 8500GT’s in SLI be over my current 7600 card?

It seem like $40 to go SLI seems like a good price, and I can afford it, but is it really?

Ah, SLi...I did some research on SLi when I was in the process of building a machine. From what I read, with SLi you really don't get that much performance boost. Also, your computer will run extremely hot, so you better have an HAF case or water-cooling.

But hey, if you want to try it out for $40 go ahead. If it turns out it's not working for you, sell the extra card.
