Posted this in the wrong area earlier... just started working on planets and space themes this week here is another attempt ... better than the first.. All done from scratch.
wow your right I didn't notice that. I cropped on a trans BG probbally just cut it too close. thanx for pointing that out..
The next one I'll leave the glow completly off one 1 version so whom ever would want to use could add thier own. but I'll also post one with but less... looking again I think the inner glow is a touch high as well... will refine and repost.
Glow is a bit unrealistic. Also, needs a shadow of some sort, especially since it seems like you have more light coming in from the bottom right. Tip for the clouds: I'm gonna guess that you have them on screen? If so, duplicate the layer, invert the colors, put it under the original and set the blending mode to multiply. Nudge it a few pixels to match the lighting so your clouds have some shadows. You can blur this layer and tinker with the opacity for best results.
glow is unrealistic and it doesnt die down in the shadow area im no expert at these planets but the shadow should be alot darker remember its in space and the only light is from the single light source you've put in so shadows are very dark and the glow would also reflect that. easy way to make shadow and glow is to copy the whole planet, resize by about +25% and move the shadow over where you want it, then crop the shadow to the planet and glow, that about does it. hard to explain without me making images for you 2 see i know... also a touch up, to actually put the planet in space is to add stars, easiest and best way is to make use of the 'noise' filter and adjust the layers, to get depth, make a second 'noise' lasy, then a cloud layer, grain merge the 2 and then merge the layers together and then set it to lighten and adjust the transparency of the layer.
Hey nice job. Although, like most have said glow needs work. I think the planet would go great if you used this in other artwork. The post above me talks about stars, I'd agree if this is going further than a single planet however kinda looks like you were creating just a planet. So good work! Make some more realistic planets. Maybeh whole solar system!
