colors are... off, i dont like the pure white sstrip. and i dont like the white lighting things behind the white strip. but i do love the layout here. just minor tweeks and its great.

maybe add a light gradient in the white stripe seems like it is missing something

Ignore the posts above, don't change a thing. This is an excellent design. The white bar in the content panel works wonders for drawing visitors eyes to your work.

Yes it will obviously catch attention. but that will make the rest of the page less visited, you want your whole design to be recognized, links and all.

Dude, just stop commenting. Every word you post just shows how little you actually know about web design.

You should ask for your money back.

I got to agree with inverse here. I've had some classes too, not particularly webdesign but design overall, and the one thing that was very important was to draw attention to the thing you want them to notice in this case my designs in my portfolio. The design around is just to get visitors attention on first site, so when you come to the site its says hey that looks nice, and after looking at the rest of the design it the attention draws to the content of the site; the portfolio.

epic you should just stop commenting

when i said add a gradient i just meant a very light one that can just be seen.

also you might want to change the borders around the images maybe have it 3px negative space around the image then have 1px grey around the negative space.

yea epic, ive only done basic design classes but even i know that you want to draw you audiences eye to whats important on the page not the whole page.

you get 2 results trying to design to make it all equally eye catching.
1: a mess, simple as everything would clash and get mixed up, people eye will actually bleed -.- they will take one look, see its too much and leave

2: it will look flat with no theme or concept, pointless and boring, again people will leave.

epic...seriously ask for you money back, cos who ever taught you was just after you money.

The flares just hurt my eyes and the I don't think the colours fit for this design.
